Thursday, Enshin TrainingStarted off with a quick warm up then straight into Kihon 10 reps of all strikes and blocks then it was 20 reps of all the kicks. The first ten to a quick count, the second ten to a bloody quick count Then we partnered up and did a minute of alternating 4 X hiki kazushi - Mawashi geri. Then a minute of three punches, Hiki mawashi, hiza geri, mawashi geri. Kata time next, Green belt and Yellow belt in chunks format then Green belt to the count then Green belt against an opponent. Then the pads came out and we lined up in 4s or 5s. 1st in the line did 15 seconds of hitting what ever the padman gives you, second in line does 15 seconds of burpees 3rd person rests and 4th person rests. Then 1st person goes to the back of the line and the 2nd does the pads whilst the 3rd does burpees and the 4th and 1st rest and so on. As Ros and I were in the 4 person line we did this 5 times each. At the end of the pad work Mark who was holding the pads turned to Ros and I and said we were "Destroyers" I'd like to think this was a complement Next we got into teams and did a sprinting/exercise race. Finished off with some stretches.

LOL
I'm sure that's not far from the truth.
Just married: "Do you have to go?"
Long-term married: "Don't wake me up when you go"

No - I'll grab a bite afterwards and head home.
To be honest the peace and quiet of two long drives will do me the world of good. Get me mentally strong and chilled out for the school holidays ...

Monday, Enshin TrainingEasy one tonight (allegedly). Very quick warm up then 10 reps of all kihon strikes and blocks all straight to full speed and with no break between techniques. For the kicks we had a partner to provide a target for each kick. Next was 1 minute of (alternating with a partner) of.... Mawashi geri/Ushiro mawashi geri over squatting partners head. Hiki kazushi/Mawashi geri Hiki mawashi/Hiza geri Three punches/Hiki mawashi/Hiza geri/Hiki kazushiMawashi geri Next was kata, Green belt 3 times to the count then White, Blue(twice), Yellow & Green with no count. We then had 5 goes at kata against an opponent I did Yellow twice and Green thrice. Horribleness occured next, 45 seconds of defence/counter against any attack form the pad man then 15 seconds all out attack on the pads. We did this 4 times. I was sucking air through a straw by the end of it. Then all the green belts held the pads while all the black belts did the above. Holding the pads was nearly as bad as doing the stuff! Next 8 of us got pads and got in a circle, each black belt had a minute in the middle randomly going to each person and hitting what ever the padman gave them. The green belts didn't have to do this, I was quite looking forward to it in a "My god this is gonna be nasty" kind of way Finished with some stretches.

The green belts didn't have to do this... I was mentally girding my loins for this so when we didn't have to do it I felt a strange mix of mainly relief, with the tiniest hint of disappointment (only the tiniest hint, mind ;D)!

Saturday, Enshin TrainingSteady class today as it was the first one after a test. Unfortunately Ros's leg/back is still F***ed so she couldn't take part Started off with bag work, 10 - 15 minutes of the usual long range, close range etc etc but today we were told to work on technique rather than stamina. And the nasty pulling round was replaced with moving round shadow boxing The we got into threes and one person held the bag whilst the other two alternated 1 mawashi geri then 2 then 3 then back to 1. Kata time next, a few goes at Brown belt kata for me then a couple of green. Then I got to have a go at brown belt against an opponent. Next we had one person in the middle and the others took it in turns to attack. As soon as the person in the middle got a 3 point score they became an attacker and someone else was on. Finished with three rounds of 5 Burpees, 5 Press-ups, 5 sit-ups and 6 lengths (Sprinting) of the gym.

Just wanted to ease things down today after a long and tiring run-up to the tests. Despite the (slight) drop in pace it was pleasing to see everyone still giving their best. I was surprised to see Mark there to start with, but then realised that that's him all over, business as usual (despite the bruises) Gary

Thanks
Yeah, we've got some older ones who don't know when to take a breather and some really good ones coming through.
Happy days!
