I'm a firm believer in sticking to what works, including violent non-stop striking. It's just that in a melee, if I were the smaller and less strong party, the simple stuff would leave me at a disadvantage. Using angles and leverage, the little guy or gal has a better chance. . .or so I hope.

"In essence, the ideal survival skill should be kept as simple as possible in technique complexity, technique response time, and theory of application" (Siddle: Sharpening the Warriors Edge)
I have a natural aversion to the complex, probably as I haven't got time to drill it enough to make it flow. I coach combat sport and enjoy mixing the skills and strategy, but for my personal self-defence skills I just drill stuff that's direct, uncomplicated and strong.
