Thank you guys. 10 solid TGU is quite a task to perform within 10 minutes including breaks. Lots to work towards.

Got a family 'school of strength' going on now. Even the youngest happily swinging a 2kg weight plate.
For safety I put an old belt round their DB's as they do TGU's, not to help but just to catch it if things go wrong. They love it.
Just the Mrs to persuade now.

A family that plays together, stays together.
Great idea about the belt for TGU. I had to visualize it for a moment but I understand the safety concept now.

Gary Like the idea of the family all together working out! For the young ones, maybe plastic water bottles or jugs for the TGU s. They're still heavy, but soft.

I offered him a milk carton but he insisted on a plate. (Don't know where he gets his stubborn streak from?) Gary

Nice new blog post on the strong first site; relevant to every gym and dojo. It includes:
Rob Lawrence, the master of one-liner, once quipped that the very strong and the very weak will never give you any trouble. It is the guys in the middle who have a chip on their shoulder.
Which reminded me of the advice I got before training in the Kyokushin Honbu (1989) -
"You wont have any trouble with the top guys or the new ones, just watch out for the ones in the middle with something to prove"
Happy days!

I am not quite on the program yet but I am following the advise on the swings. It is almost like relearning the Hardstyle method again. They do feel refined!

Start light! Then when you move up to 24 keep the 16 for those days you're pushed for time or not in the mood.

Agreed with Gary. Another tip is DON'T RUSH! Let the strength come. This is from experience. If you rush it you will probably get injured and then have to back off. Slow and Steady.

"Advanced students should avoid getting distracted. They should focus on refining the basics. Getting deeper into basics. That's what seperates the best from the rest"
