Waiting by the phone on my Grandma or a doctor to call me. Called her a few minutes ago to let her know I was on the way to take her to a doctor's appointment and to pick up a prescription..also planned on taking her to breakfast/lunch and buy her a few groceries.
My Grandma has been complaining to me the last couple days this week that she's having problems walking. On top of that she recently had eye surgery because she was going more or less blind in one eye (which is horrible for her since she loves to read). She can't get up out of bed and walk so is calling 911. I told her to call me or have a doctor or somebody call me ASAP. I'm only typing this to help keep sane waiting for somebody to call my phone.
Already called my brother to let him know about it since him and I are the only relatives on my Mom's side left that help take care of her. I'm really hoping she's okay.

Thanks KvW and Evergrey Just got a hold of her, she's "okay". She's being told it's her arthritis and is prescribed some steroids and more painkillers. I'm going to check up on her again in the next few hours and bring by some groceries this weekend. She's back home and has her neighbor over right now helping her out. My Grandma is stubborn to be as independent as she can be which I understand to a point. However, my brother lives in a one room apartment in Seattle and works 6 days a week while I live in a one room apartment 40 minutes south of her in Tacoma. My Uncle who lives in Arizona offered to have her live with him and I tried to talk her into it and may try again relentless now. The hot & dryer climate would be better on her arthritis and my uncle has a house with the extra room for her (and a swimming pool, lucky bastard!). My brother and I have no problem checking up on our Grandma and helping out once a week or every other week but it's not practical for us to give her the assistance I think she truly now needs. My brother and I are her only family left within driving distance, her other 2 kids (3 deceased) live out of state so it kind of puts us in a bind. My brother, bless his heart, has been helping take care of my Grandma the last 5 years or so while I was away. We help her out financially when she needs help from us and I just want the best for her, I really do. Just hope I can find a solution to this situation soon. Osu!

OSU,
That is a really tough situation. My grandmother was very stubborn about such things as well... she didn't want to leave her home of 50 years. I think I inherited her stubbornness. In the end, she finally consented to living in a rest home, though she refused to move away from her home town to someplace closer to her kids.
I hope that she decides to move in with your uncle. Sounds like it would be a nice place for her to be!

I think this must be a trait in grandmas, because mine was the same! Sounds like some audio books might be a great present, BTW. Hope it all works out.

I hope you find a resolution to that soon Po1! I think about my mom and my MIL aging and having to take care of them...destroys my mood instantly every...single...time. Not that I "mind" it, it's just that the situation is so tough and not one I enjoy thinking about it...but I'd be doing us all a great disservice by not at least forming a preliminary plan! Today, I am catching up after being SLAMMED at work all week. I've been on call all week, my boss was in town Monday - Thursday and I'd been in a "lockdown" meeting all day Wednesday and Thursday. Needless to say, not much else got done. I also relaxing a little bit after feeling a little overwhelmed, lol. Also getting set up for our tournament tomorrow and hoping that I won't embarrass myself OSU!

I got that book from my uncle's Book store It's a nice read considering for when that was made by Donn Draeger! I'm off to get breakfast with my Army buddy and then going to the UFC fight night event in Seattle. Hoping it's a good event with not too many drunken idiots sitting around me that think they're expert fighters but I'm expecting the worst..LOL. At least my Brother, Dad, girlfriend, and Army buddy will be with me. Osu!

I lost it on two morons sitting behind my girlfriend and I smoking pot and blowing a lot smoke in our direction. My Dad had to pull me back before I punched one of them but they were freaked out enough to immediately leave. I felt like a jerk but had a grandpa of a young boy and he mom in front of me thank me and other people nearby. I still hate losing my cool like that when i feel like I have no control but this time it worked in my favor I suppose. I'll five a better report of the event after a good nights sleep lol. Osu!

Good time was had by all, with a meal that 45 attended afterwards. Going back on the road this afternoon, too bad I have to work for a living. See y'all next week.
