Osu!
In the not so distant past, most men wore their trousers high into their crotch. this trend has been gone for the better part of 20 years over here in the States. I say this because it seems to me there is still a significant emphasis for people - women specifically, to incorporate groin strikes, kicks and grabs.
I believe that while on that rare occasion this may be an effective application, most times it is deflected by the low hanging seem of the aggressors jeans/trousers.......that coupled with adrenaline and a soft grab and less then powerful strike may make matters worse.
There is much more to this as i have made some further determinations based on personal experience and technique assessment.....but I would love to hear everyones thoughts!
Osu!!

It does make it harder to hit the target that is for sure.
I think with proper technique though you can get in.
Anyone have experience with that?

My opinion with my own experience is the groin is not a "great target" if just kicked at. Only once in my life have I ever been kicked in the groin where it dropped me. Every other time I was able to continue through without flinching.
However, I do think techniques like "squeezing the peach" in American Kenpo where someone actually squeezes the teticles, will work...hell, I know that would work.
I think groin strikes should be worked in a combination and shouldn't be thought of as the sure way to get out of harm's way. For self defense for Women I believe the throat, eyes, knee caps, and other areas are more effective then a strike to the groin UNLESS they're grabbing the groin... Osu!

Are you talking about the gangsta style of wearing trousers well below the waist, Joe? If so, those guys are looking to get pantsed and then punched in the junk. ;D

I'm surprised it's still popular to "sag." That crap started when I was a teen...stupid when I was a teen, and still stupid in my 30s. It's just not functional or practical for doing anything, if you're sagging. I can't be the only one here who tries on a new pair of shoes throws a few kicks or in pants stretches a bit to see if the pants are too tight for kicking . I try to make sure my clothing is somewhat functional. Osu!

Funny actually.
In the 70s and 80s.....men wore their trousers so tight all you had to do was punch/kick to the front. I got tagged as a teenager by a young lady just messing around with a tap to the ....... Now, with loose fitting clothing, appendages have different voids to fill (I am really trying hard to not be crass). That is only if you dont wear "Jorts".

Chuck Norris stretchy jeans, eh wullie? No wonder you had so many fights back in the day. ;D I can't be the only one here who tries on a new pair of shoes throws a few kicks or in pants stretches a bit to see if the pants are too tight for kicking . I try to make sure my clothing is somewhat functional. Osu! You are not alone. I'm big on comfort and functionality, not so much on fashion, just ask my wife.

Hey, if they are good enough for Walker, Texas Ranger..... ;D Now-a-days i'm rarely out of of combat style trousers, they are baggy enough for my short, fat, hairy legs to be mobile in.

Him and I would train in my Dad's backyard exchanging techniques and I remember him teaching me that one and probably will for the rest of my life. Quite a fitting name for the technique! LOL! Osu!

Wait a minute... Could "squeezing the peach" be the same devastating move as "monkey steals the peach"?

I will say this about "squeezing the peach" and other similar things I've seen in AK. They typically use it in a combination, to help set up, meaning, they don't just stop there.
I've also seen the same thing done often in Dux Ryu ninjitsu which to me looks more like a mix of AK + TKD + Judo then Japanese ninjitsu (lil' off topic). Osu!

When I talk to my students about groin strikes, if talking kick - I tell them don't try to kick to ring the bells, kick to break the support above (pelvis). The male body is designed to protect the jewels, they suck back into the body during the flight or fight response, so a love tap is not going to hurt like it does in class.
I don't really like teaching the grab in general, as most jeans are hard to grab and hang onto.
