Just got off the phone with somebody, and by coincidence have a possible opportunity for him.
If all works out, I'll be training him for a Muay Thai..a world I didn't think I'd be returning to anytime soon, if ever again.
I guess once it's in your blood, it's hard to leave knockdown and kickboxing/MT.
If all works out, I'll be posting more information on this. Osu!

Since I got into "tasting" full contact sparring again since 2010 (kyokushin, I. kickboxing, & MMA) then adapting to and relishing light-point sparring Seido karate has diminished: I'm wondering if I ought to eliminate Seido training all together and just focus on kyokushin (with I. kickboxing days) training...

That is cool.
It would be neat if you would document the process here. ;D

Definitely will! Will post info on my blog as it happens too! This person is somebody I trained a bit before that has had some K1 experience and got some tips from Filho years ago! So he's definitely not a beginner, I'd just be helping him with pad work..not really teaching him anything thats new to him. Osu!

Right now I'm trying to make the fight happen and am match making a couple of fights for this...now to see if they happen LOL!
If I get the individual I talked about a fight (if we find him an opponent, it's on) I will post how I train him and get some video footage of pad work, etc. Osu!

Just got off the phone with a few people, got him a title fight, it's the main event. Working out a private training schedule with him right now, since he works swing shift (1 to 10 pm Monday-Friday). If all goes will, he will also be sparring with Maurice Smith a few days a week. The cut off weight is 220 or 225, and I'm his trainer/cornerman for the fight. To any of you that don't know who Maurice Smith is, here's a clip: www.youtube.com/watch?v=v5tCLLrkn7gMaurice is one of the pioneers of a good striker to enter the UFC and do well in the early days of the UFC. He also had a few K-1 fights but is definitely more known for his UFC fights. I'll also make sure there is a youtube clip of his fight and a few with me training him, along with tips on how to do proper pad work for kickboxing, MT, etc. Osu!

Here's a link to buy tickets to anybody near the Seattle/Tacoma area, even though I think only two of us on here are? LOL The event will be like a "high school reunion" for me because the promoters are guys that I trained with years ago and Marcelo who's one of the guests is who I started out in BJJ under. Funny how things come full circle 12-15+ years later . www.brownpapertickets.com/event/218223Osu!

That's awesome P01!
What do you think are the chances of getting some one match knockdown fights on some of the later promotions?
Osu!

May bring Israel by Seattle's dojo for some sparring/training. Also got my old sparring partner, Jon and multiple kickboxing/Muay thai title belt holder and former Seattle Sabaki champion in on the training and to help corner! Always good to have another experienced corner instead of just me. Israel needs to drop about 12-15 pounds in 30 days which I don't envy him for but it's doable LOL! Osu!

It's going great After reviewing some fight footage of the opponent I feel very confident in the game plan for my fighter. For a reason that there is a slight chance the opponent or trainers/friends/etc. might view this, I won't say what the game plan is until after the fight but I promise I will! I have him doing 4 rounds of sparring each with 2 boxers, 4 rounds of kickboxing with Jonathan and me, along with the rounds of pad work and bag work. He's only about 8 pounds above his fight weight, so we still have enough time to get his weight down. With all of that being said I feel very confident in the success of this fight, even more so then I did in the beginning. Osu!
