100% Agree "The only faith you need is faith in yourself" I don't believe in God/Gods but if I did it would be those that tell you to stand up and be bold, not get on your knees and be meek. Gary This reminds me... Vikings (the series)starts on telly next week, I think it's the 13th May on the history channel, I watched it on Amazon prime and loved it

Sounds good!
I'd have to say that book showed promise at the beginning but lost me towards the end. Not for me, talk of runes and magic etc.

Sorry - meant the book I recommended yesterday. Started well but (to me) lost the plot.

Sorry - meant the book I recommended yesterday. Started well but (to me) lost the plot. There are quite a few Viking books like that.... instead of concentrating on a story, they delve into Norse mythology and try to make it real. The more realistic ones are the type I like, I enjoyed the Raven series, the first in the series is here www.amazon.com/Blood-Eye-Novel-Raven-Book/dp/0345535073

Right now I am reading all of the Elric series by Michael Moorcock. Good stuff.

LEGACY
by James Kerr
details on how the All Blacks developed a winning mindset and team culture.
If you only read one book this year about the mental / club ethos side of training, make sure it's this one.

I've just started Smile or Die: How Positive Thinking Fooled America and the World by Barbara Ehrenreich. Now, I know what you're thinking: "surely our little ray of sunshine and apex of positive thoughts, Ros, won't like that" but hey, I'm willing to give it a shot!

While crashing at my sister's, I was coerced into reading The Goldfinch, Donna Tartt. I mean I was sleeping on the living room couch, the least I could do was read a book she found so interesting. Not a bad read, actually. Got me thinking how I might cast the screen adaption.

Finished all the US Printed Elric stories. There is one more but right now it is only in a French Anthology and I am not literate in French. So I am going back to my Robotech saga as there are a few books there I did not get too. Forgot how fun they are.

ESSENTIALISM by Greg McKeown
The relevance to MA is obvious.
"I can do anything but I can't do everything" is a statement we should all consider in training. We might know thousands of moves but what are the key ones that make winning more likely? Which just take time yet add nothing to our chances of winning?
Worth a look!

I have ordered and am waiting for delivery of the 3rd edition of Steve Arneil's Kyokushin Kata book. (should be here later today or tomorrow)
Not everyone's cup of tea I know, but it has become my kata bible over the years. There are no changes to the kata, but there are new pictures and explanations in this one.
According to Steve Arneil, this was the only kata book approved by Mas Oyama when the original version came out and he has not changed the kata since then, just improved the book.
