Boy it's hot out! -tuck planche holds (6x10 secs) -HSPU (3x12, 3x12 sec bent arm holds) -advanced tuck front lever rows 20) -Half front lever rows (2x20) -weighted off-set chin-ups (3x6, 16 kgs) -weighted bent arm hang (30 secs, 16 kgs) -100 kb snatches (16 kgs) -40 kb swings (24 kgs)
For the half front lever rows I merely extend one leg while keeping the other tucked. The 24 kgs kb felt very heavy after working with the lighter one. On the up side, I think my snatch grip is improving.

I feel comfortable with Snatches now. I can't wait to do some more. IT finally "clicked"
The down part is still not as smooth but at least to the top it feels good.

I think I finally have the hip drive and the trap power to do them at least with the 16kg. Now I will work toward the 24 for Snatches. ;D

Shweet! A couple things, well three things, helped me with the KB snatch: a) switching to a lighter kb b) visualizing screwing in/out a light bulb at the top c) focusing on the OK sign grip on the way down
7-11-12 -kb snatch (100, 16 kgs) -db hang power cleans (2x5x5, 2x60 lbs) -rope skipping 10 mins
I taped my bum wrist and it helped the snatch tremendously. Also, twisting the kb as if screwing in/out a light bulb enabled me to get the kb to hop into the OK grip.

7-13-12 -tuck planche holds (6x10 secs) -HSPU (3x12, 3x12 sec bent arm holds) -weighted off-set chin-ups (3x8, 16 kgs) -weighted bent-arm hang (30 sec) -db hang power cleans (2x6x5, 2x60 lbs) -kb snatches (2x30, 16 kgs)
Nothing too wild. I was too tired to go beyond 60 reps on the snatches. Form started to go sideways and I decided to call it.

I find it better to call it when form degrades. Pushing it is just asking for injury. Build up slowly. It is working for me. 3 months ago I could barley swing for 100 reps. Now 300 is not bad for me.

Yeah, I think my back is degrading. I took a few days off from the exercises. A road trip to Philly over the weekend and jury selection over the past two days kept me busy and unmotivated. 7-18-12 -100 kb snatches (16 kgs) -kb jerk (2x10, 24 kgs) -db pp (2x10, 27 kgs) -db cheat curl pp (2x10, 27 kgs) -kb swing (100, 24 kgs) Today was a single-arm workout day. I kept the sets low on the heavier presses due to the funny clicking sounds my lower back was making. Racking the kb on my left side continued to be a struggle.

Wow. Any idea what could be making that clicking?
I picked up my 16kg KB the other night to try my hand at 100 snatches.
A line that simply says, "100 kb snatches (16 kgs)" does not accurately portray the emotional and physical torture you endure for 5+ minutes.

I'm not sure about the clicking, but I don't like it. 7-20-12 -100 kb snatches (16 kgs) -HSPU (3x13, 3x13 sec bent arm holds) -Weighted off-set chin-ups (3x8, 16 kgs) -assisted single, bent-arm hold (2x3x10 secs) -kb push press (2x4x5, 24 kgs) The kb snatches aren't too bad. I switch hands every ten reps so it's not like those kb monster workouts on YT. Still, the learning curve is exacting a toll in the form of calluses and a sore left forearm. I wrapped the arm in an Ace bandage for cushioning. I'll have to take a pumice stone to the calluses. I pulled up using both arms and released the grip of one hand (except for one finger on the bar) to do the assisted, single bent-arm holds. Pretty satisfied with that. If I can release that one finger, I'd be psyched. The kb push presses are just plain weird. In order to rack the kb you have to lean way back and sink your elbow somewhere in your gut or hip, then drive the bell up. Db's are so much simpler.
