My favorite submission is a modified guillotine choke using my forearm that I have "perfected" over the years. Some people will say using my forearm is "not good" but I have made more people tap and pass out before they can tap from it then I have using the "proper way". My second favorite submission is the kimura . Both of these submissions I can apply standing up or on the ground is another reason why I like them so much. My favorite position is mount so I can rain down strikes and "grind" on somebody my second favorite position is side control. I do not like being on my back when I'm grappling but because of that I have learned how to grapple from my back and can work spider guard, rubber guard, and x guard fairly well. I still need to work on my turtle guard and will admit that's a big whole in my ground game. Remember, position before submission. Osu!

I like how versatile the guillotine is; standing, kneeling, from the sprawl, and even from on the back if the opponent is careless enough to let you get an arm around the back of their neck. Plus, it works as both a choke and/or a neck crank of death, depending on how much/little technique one puts into it.
Position wise, guard, because options. Lots of potential submissions, strong defense, sweeps, and even the ability to push off and escape, albeit at a risk of getting it passed.

Come on Ros. No jokes about the title of this one? (Not to pick on Ros... There are a few others I might have expected some from). P01 did you set this one up or what?

What, does every grappling thread need to have one answer that's "The donkey punch from rear mount"? Well, there it is!

I'm like you Bob, just waiting for someone to say, "Get 'er on top" or some such smut.
The new - tactful - me would never say such things ...

I have yelled out "69!" before while assisting a BJJ class being taught when the instructor was showing "north south" position on myself. I'm good friends with the guy I was assisting and he still gives me crap about it about 5 years later..... Osu!

Osu! i do a few standing chokes and sleepers, don't know technical names for them, just stuff i used on the doors. ground work i can only really manage arm-bars, kimura and knee bar.

The main reason why I even got into BJJ was because at first I thought I could jump into MMA competition successfully and expected to pick up BJJ quickly...lets just say I was not a natural grappler starting out.
For some strange reason here in WA we used to have some very good kickboxers and Thaiboxers but around '01-'02 the focus switched to BJJ and no-gi grappling so now it's shifted to some good kickboxers and Thaiboxers who were coincidentally the same ones 10-15 years ago and a bunch of good grapplers. I think in WA state alone we have around 15 BJJ black belts (possibly even 20'ish) and most of them are around the Seattle and Tacoma area....15 years ago I don't think we even had one..I think Marcelo Alonso came here around '96 or '97 from Brazil.
I have continued BJJ off and on over the years because wherever I lived there always has been a BJJ school nearby but not usually any knockdown karate or half decent kickboxing gyms.
My point is I personally am a much better striker and like striking more but good BJJ is a lot easier to find for me. Osu!

OSU, My tactic is "sit on them and hope that I'm fat enough that they cannot move and eventually give up." I think my ground game might need some work. OSU

This thread is too funny and to add to it, my fav is the rear naked choke. I really do like that one. Probably cause the guys are bigger than me and when I get it locked on there is nothing they can do.

I'm not a "submission guy" (no training), but I love seeing the triangle choke applied...omaplata as well.

You to like the Twister, crucifix double grapevine, head and arm, scarf choke but nowadays the rear naked choke and constrictor are probably more efficient. Less fun but more efficient.

I have zero wrestling/grappling training, but my favorite submissions/positions I like to see applied are the darce choke (such a beauty ), and position-wise I would prefer to have their back, whether standing or on the ground.
