I'm not one for talking about my private life much, so this is a new experience for me.
I just got out of hospital after having had a 'warning shot over the bow' so to speak.
I was training on Monday evening as usual and during the warm up, like a bolt of lightning, I got the mother of all headaches at the back of my head, I had to crouch down and hold my head and had trouble controlling the pain, this was like no other headache I have ever had. The severe pain subsided after a couple of minutes, but left me with a "normal" headache and feeling a bit dizzy, I managed to sit at the side of the hall and tell the guys what to do until the end of the class (Mondays are just a 1 hour session).
I went home after and went to bed, my wife was away at a work thing for the night otherwise I would have been dragged to the hospital there and then.
still had a headache in the morning but started to head for work but didn't feel quite right, so turned round and went home, I then called my wife and told her what was going on.
She immediately sent me to the doctors who checked my blood pressure after I told him what had happened.
I had a reading of approx 220/110 or 120, he seemed to think I should have had a stroke with that kind of reading and so did loads of tests which were all fine, I got sent to the hospital for a CT scan and lumber puncture (that's a story in itself) as they thought I must have had a ruptured aneuryism.. thankfully both tests came back clear, it seems that the extremely high blood pressure was the cause of the headache, but it could have been a lot worse, I could very easily had a stroke or heart attack because of it.. scary stuff!
I am now taking it easy for a few days, doing as little as possible and have medication for the blood pressure.
I have to go for more blood tests in a couple of weeks so hopefully things will get back to normal soon.
