Back early-ish from a good day at the Open, missed finals tho' Don't remember quite so many and varied foreign groups ( inc US and Israel) being represented back in the day, was good to see a much more international flavour. Gary & Ros was good to speak, if only briefly! (Monty I assume that was you who came & sat next to Ros?!)

Yep, I sat back down and only after you'd gone Ros went "That was Ibuki" I had some technical problems with the camera I was using for video but luckily Joe from our Dojo was there filmimg Ros on his camera. Once I've chopped it about a bit I'll get it uploaded. Ros fought a swedish lady in the first round, they were matching each other blow for blow all the way through both rounds. Unfortunately there was a 'significant' weight difference so the Swede got through in the end. If the weight rule was not in place I think Ros would have got the decision as she was definitely 'taking it to' her opponent more of the time.

Long day yesterday. Felt sorry for the girls, there at 10:00am then not fighting until 3:00pm. OK it's the same for all of them, but I can't help thinking it doesn't help.
Gutsy fight from Ros, just what I expected. Her opponent was good, no doubt about it, but with no knockdowns or clear dominance either way, weight was the decider. Ros's immediate reaction was that that was a poor way to lose but as she wasn't pushed around or knocked down - and gave it her all - I was really proud of her.

I would have liked to see an extension, good fight, but IMHO, by the way I started out in knockdown karate competition, there was no clear winner, since I didn't see anybody downed, "stunned," tko'd/ko'd. I tip my hat to Ros and her competitor, both gave it their all! What I noticed is that Ros really sets her stance, for her hips and shoulders to be behind her punches, for very powerful punches. Ros's opponent was about being active with combinations, but not as much power. I gave up "playing tag" in '95 or '96, so you know where my vote is but I would have liked an extension. Osu!

Yeah I noticed the same. I am sure that she still feels those punches today..

Thanks for all your support, guys! I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little bit disappointed - but only a little bit. I've learnt and gained a lot from the training and the actual day, so all-in-all I think I'm a better fighter now than I was 2 months ago - and that's got to be worth it.
