Osu to all my England/UK members! I have a student/former student that will be in England next week that is possibly looking for some knockdown dojo to get some training in at. She would prefer knockdown karate, seeing as that's mostly what she's trained in..doesn't matter if it's Kyokushin, Enshin, or any other styles. Some of you have seen her on facebook with a few of you seeing her fight at a tournament or two. It's "Kat," and she's around 6' or so tall, a very nice person . Here's what Kat told me: "Here is the list of two locations that are the furthest away from each other . London, Ibis Euston Pancras, Jan 7th-20th, and most rest of the days in January our group will be around this location. Hotel; Holiday Inn Express, Stoke-on-Trent 21st-24th-ish" If any of you can recommend any dojo near those areas it would greatly be appreciated! Osu!

Stoke is about 3/4 Of an hour from Loughborough, but that is by car. Not sure how easy the train is from stoke.
The other issue is the time, 0800 hrs On a Saturday.

I'm in Manchester, Ashihara Karate, I know of a Kyokushin Dojo in Macclesfield, but Loughborough does have Gary's and a few Kyokushin clubs there.
Possibly Google search and ask the Branch instructors
OSU.

Osu! Thank you, I first messaged Gary before posting here . This student actually asked me a few months ago but I honestly got side tracked and forgot . She's too nice, she didn't want to "bug me," to remind me to find out for her LOL! Her biggest fault in kumite is that she's too nice...I have to more or less coach her to just go for it whenever she fought in tournaments. She's very coachable, but too nice for her own too good at times I can think of worst faults to have . Osu!

She's very welcome here if she fancies the train ride. St Pancras to Loughborough is about 80 minutes and she'd probably have to come up on the Friday night. If that works just ask her to message me here or on gjec@btinternet.com Gary

I believe Kat is going to go to Gary's dojo 1-2 times . I will let it be known I haven't trained Kat in quite some time, and she told me she hasn't trained in a while. I quit teaching at her university a year ago, give or take primarily due to the university's lack of even attempting to meet me half way with logistics. Was not worth me having to pay insurance, charge students for training times that wouldn't even be guaranteed...and paying rent to have non university students and say "hey, by the way, the schedule can change at any time!" Kat was one of my favorite students because she is a nice person and actually listens!!! LOL! The latter is something that I wish more students did . Osu!

You are very welcome. I fear we couldn't give her much as it was only an hour. I couldn't take them sightseeing either as I had an appointment soon after.
Rik took them into the nearest city though so I hope they enjoyed the day.

Again Gary, thank you to you and Rik for the hospitality. I'm friends with Kat's Dad, and have had her family over to my place before. I have a lot of respect for you and your experience, and wouldn't just suggest to a former student of mine that I also coached in some knockdown tournaments to just train at any "old dojo." I hope one day to be able to train Kat again. Osu! You are very welcome. I fear we couldn't give her much as it was only an hour. I couldn't take them sightseeing either as I had an appointment soon after. Rik took them into the nearest city though so I hope they enjoyed the day. Gary

If she's up next week I'll be more organised. What's her subject? I'll find somewhere relevant to it and hopefully that will make her trip up more memorable.

I forgot why she's in England LOL! I mean, I know it's for some class(es) with her university, but as far as I know she's some type of an Art major (very talented). Maybe it's just an exchange opportunity for the "J" term they have which is about a month long. I imagine Kat is a light weight because drinking is honestly new to her LOL. So please go easy on her! I'll ask her what she's currently studying, but I know she doesn't have internet that often. Again, thank you to all of you for showing hospitality to her . Osu!
