Hi guys ,
From my short time on this forum and reading various threads I have come across the name W.E. Fairbairn a few times and am very intrigued and am also aware he produced a couple of books , my question is are these publications still obtainable or are they now obsolete ?

I got some from Paladin.
His stuff doesn't look flash in any way so many martial artists miss the point. He taught in wartime so time was tight and the syllabus was compressed and streamlined to just a few reliable skills. The difference was 'intent' which he felt was 80% of the battle, skill just adding the remaining 20%
I find his stuff brilliant in it's simplicity. My father (ex RM) never - to my knowledge - lost a 'street fight' and has remained a prickly and aggressive handful all his life. If you want 'effective' rather than 'sport' or 'self-development', that's not bad for just a few sessions in basic training.

Thanks for the replies and I will check out the places recommended , if you knew me as a martial artist you would know flashy isn't my thing that's why I don't buy into a lot of the bunkai from kata stuff so I think I would appreciate his material , function over form and all that .

not only that the books, Mr Fairbairn in collaboration with Mr Sykes came up with what IMHO is still the best fighting knife ever designed
