I was dead tired yesterday. I picked up the dumbbells and immediately put them down. Nothing in the tank. Instead -Kicks, 100 each of mae geri mae keage, mawashi geri -tekpi, neck bridges and headstand
3-26-15 -db push press, 2x20lbs, on the minute 5 (x2); 8 (x5); 10 (x5) -tekpi, neck bridge, headstand -100's of mae geri, mawashi geri
On the kicking, I'm not expecting miracles from this routine. I just want to keep the rust off.

4-1-15 -db C&P, 2x60 lbs, singles on the half min (15), singles on the min (5) -ATFLBR (20), L-Sit pull-ups (20) -neck bridge, headstand, tekpi
3-31-15 -db cleans, 2x60 lbs, singles on the half min (15), singles on the min (13) -neck bridge, headstand, tekpi
So two days in a row of cleans, with some pressing on the second day as well. Not a lot of volume, yet, but it's still a lot of work for me. At the dojo last night I was hitting the pads a little too hard with my dodgy left. The pain tells me that without a meniscus, my punching days are long gone.

Kicks are ok, it's the punching. Damned wrist injury. (Shakes fist)
4-2-15 -ATFLBR (20), pull-up (20), bent arm L-sit hang (2 min in 3 sets) -neck bridge, headstand, tekpi -mae geri, mawashi geri, mae keage
Gave my back and shoulders a bit of a rest. Isometrics was the feature exercise of the day. Only about 2 mins each of the headstand and bent arm hangs. Time seems to slow down doing isometrics. You think you've been holding on to a position for a really long time, then you glance at the clock and realize no, not so much.

My training partner on Friday was a little too enthusiastic when applying some armbars, so hoisting db's and kb's are on hold for a bit. There's no growing old gracefully here. Yesterday: -ATFLBR (2x20) -dips (bw, 2x10), (16 kgs, 2x10), (24 kgs, 3x3) -tekpi, neck bridge, headstand, pk push-ups (3x10) 4-6-15 -squat kicks (100 Mae geri) -Tekpi, neck bridge, headstand, pk push-ups (3x10)

I spent most of the week with my family touring Edinburgh and visiting a couple universities. We got lucky with the weather, warm (for Scotland) and sunny (pretty much for anywhere). No exercise to speak of, except lots of walking and working the liver with single malts.
4-12-15 -db power C&PP (2x30 kgs, 25 singles on the half min) -pull-ups, 20 bw -pull-ups, 24 kgs, doubles on the minute, 20 -tekpi, neck bridge, headstand -Tabata rowing

4-13-15 -dips, 10 bw, 24 kgs, doubles on the minute (10), triples on the minute (21) -tekpi, neck bridge, headstand, pk push-ups (3x10) -Tabata rowing
I've taken up Tabata rowing again because it seemed that I'd given up on conditioning. The good thing is that it's only 4 minutes of pain. The bad thing is that it's 4 minutes of pain.

4-15-15 -Power Clean & Push Press(PC&PP), 2x30 kgs, 20 Singles On The Half Min (SONTHM) -Dips, 24 kgs, 8 triples on the min (3xOTM) -pull-ups, 24 kgs, 7 (3xOTM) -tekpi, neck bridge, headstand, pk push-ups (3x10)
4-16-15 -Cleans, 2x30 kgs, 16 SOTHM -tekpi, neck bridge, pk push-ups (3x10)
I ignored a slight twinge in my neck while cleaning the db's yesterday by doing a few reps more instead of stopping immediately. Too late. No lifting on the agenda today. Foam rolling for the back and neck. Some tekpi and kicking for today. Dojo tonight.

4-17-15 - circuit at the dojo, jump rope, mountain climbers, roll-outs, pull-ups, and some other light stuff
It was a light class, as we were mostly watching a 90 year old sensei led a Shotokan Karate class on the next mat. It was impressive to see the old guy. Sharp as a tack, that one.
4-20-15 -Not Quite Fran, 2x30 kgs, db deadlifts and pull-ups, 21-15-9
Change o' pace. The knot in my back eased a bit with some foam rolling and stretching. Lived to fight another day.

4-20-15 -db snatch, 30 kgs, 6x5 -dips, 24 kgs, 6x4 -tekpi, neck bridge, headstand -Tabata Rowing
Thought I would do some push presses, but my back disagrees with the plan.

Good idea, MMX. Too often, I think I can lacrosse ball/foam roll away the pain when resting might be the better course.

So I took a couple days off. 4-23-15 -db thrusters,2x25 kgs, 3OTM, 24 -dips,24 kgs, 4OTM, 32 -pull-ups, 24 kgs, 4OTM, 32 -neck bridges, head stand, tekpi, pk push-ups (3x11) I've identified the back pain. It's roots are an old duck-duck-goose injury (slipped being chased by the goose). I lightened up the db's, and the back appreciates it. On the pk push-ups, I'm not confident enough to punch with the little knuckles, but they don't feel as vulnerable as before.

4-24-15 -db reverse lunges,2x30 kgs, 5x6 -db, single arm pp, 30 kgs, 2x5x6 -tekpi, neck bridges, head stand -Tabata rowing
Friday night training question, train or socialize? My family gets it most times, friends not so much. I'll surprise the family and attend a party with them.

Yeah every once in a while I skip the training for more time with the kids.
