*Happiness formula = Do YOUR best everyday and feel good about it.
*Unhappiness formula = Compare yourself to others. Good advice (well, apart from the grammar: compare with ) but very difficult to follow! I tend to compare myself with others, then rationalise that I don't do X as well because of one of several health issues, then get even more annoyed with myself for 'making excuses!'

LOL
Sorry Ros - just cut and pasted it.
It works for me though. I no longer feel the need to be 'better' than my training partners, it's a personal battle, me versus old father time ...

Good advice from the Crossfit site:
Start with mechanics, gain consistency, and then—and only then—add intensity.

Been struggling these last few weeks. Thought it was just a cold but the doctor says different. She revised my medication and I felt 100% better today. Although I hated to hear it, her advice was to "be sensible". So today I kept repeating to myself in my rest periods, "Take more out of training than training takes out of you" Nice short sets, sharp form and stopping a few reps before I started coughing up a hairball. Onwards and (cautiously) upwards ... Gary

Always great to feel better, I know, but part of me really hates being on permanent medication. No use whining about it though and there are many people far worse off. I'll just enjoy what I can still do. Gary

Good and sensible advice Gary.
I have to let my back heal up and then slowly get back into KB swings..

Thanks We have to look forwards and keep positive. I'm not gutted that I won't be running marathons, climbing Everest or doing 100 fights. I wouldn't do them if I had brand new lungs either ... Gary

Quick one today. Five sets of double kettlebell clean and jerks. 30 seconds - amap - then two minutes rest. 6, 7, 7, 8, 7 Shaking like a s***ing dog now but no coughing at all. Three weeks ago I was coughing just going upstairs so feeling pretty pleased with that. Gary

Nice!! That sounds brutal and one to keep on paper for when I get better with the bells. It didn't feel THAT bad at the time, Hard, sure, but not brutal. It was only after that I started shaking. (Slice of cake soon sorted that out) Gary

STIFF - and not in a good way.
6 minutes TGU's yesterday then 12 minutes swings with 32kg.
Obliques really sore to the touch and my glutes feel like I've been doing heavy lunges.
Ouch!

Not bad for an old fella.
Should've used less though, I'm suffering now. I know I'm past my best - my youngest just offered me a fight and I had to refuse.

No dojo today so did Speedplay on a local park. Lashing down with rain, muddy, slippy, absolutely horrible. No-one else to be seen. No fun and laughter there at all, so I was cursing under my breath and telling myself it was helping my mental toughness blah di soggy blah, when a woman pulled up and let a Spaniel out of her boot. Although Spaniels are known to be a bit dippy this one came bounding over to me and watched with it's tail wagging as I did a few press-ups in the mud. Then, I swear it shook it's head slowly from side to side and trotted off back to it's owner ... Gary
