I'd forgotten how much I liked those 'gorilla paws' lol! I think they were called bon su gloves or something like that in the shop, but were know as gorilla paws at the kroddy class I was in.

No idea how it got started but kempo is such a broad term so it might have to do with a particular style. I used to teach as a paid instructor at a kempo dojo years ago and none of the kempo black belts wore gloves like that. I'm no expert on "kempo" by any means because I get a bit confused by the styles of it I have seen...and kenpo (both SUPPOSED to be pronounced the same way LOL). I think most people that have bought them bought them because they saw Bruce Lee wear them but I could be wrong. I'm no different, it's just that the martial arts I got involved with didn't wear those kind of gloves or I'm sure I would have bought a pair, too! Now, I try to only buy things I can actually somewhat justify I'll actually get a use out of. $75 hayabusa gloves store.titleboxing.com/hayabusa-kanpeki-elite-mma-gloves.html trying to justify buying these for a couple of reasons..1. I do need some new gloves and 2. they remind me of gloves Ryu from street fighter wears LOL! Osu!
