Twenty years ago a true martial arts visionary passed away before his time.
He inspired millions and his legacy continues to get people off their arses several times a week in an attempt to improve.
I had the privilege to train under him in the original Honbu and I will always remember his instruction. He certainly had a 'presence' about him that only the truly great seem to have.
But let's not deify him. Above all else I believe he was a practical TNS type of man that would be puzzled at attempts to liken him to saints or legends of the past.
If I learnt anything from him it was that sweat and perseverance make ALL the difference. Cultivate GRIT.
