Not trying to poor petrol on anything, but I am delighted to see Matsui Kancho will be visiting the Enshin Honbu. I'm not far enough up the food chain to speculate on the reasons, maybe a social call, maybe a training break with ideas exchanged, maybe just none of my business. But my post here is just to remark that if it's fine for heads of organisations to get together it MUST be fine for the members. A while ago there was a discussion about a UK Branch Chief who refused his members permission to attend other clubs or events. I hope that advice is now revised. We're all grown ups and can be trusted to play nice. As a middle ranking instructor I see only benefits from co operation. At one time other knockdown styles in your area might steal potential new members but today they are far more likely to try MMA. IMO all knockdown dojo should help each other and that means putting petty jealousies aside. Most of us already do. Gary

Agreed... but my cynical head says if the other org had the name "kyokushin" in it and not Enshin, he wouldn't be visiting. negativity over, yes it is good to see him visiting others

From what i see Gary there is still one group who chooses to be insular in the U.K. I think there are some reservations in some associations but these are being overcome by open minded people, dare i say from the top down! Most groups appear to be getting on very well, there is a bit of, "I`m okay with it but i`ll have to ask but when they do it normally from what i have seen has a positive outcome. I think (my own opinion) is that one group is being laughed at in the U.K.....if one of their fighters were to dare and test themselves in another associations tournament a big white round blob would chase them into the hall and return them to where they belong.....A bit like the cult series "The Prisoner!" Sorry you younger guys this series was a while ago! This is still ongoing, i wonder what these people who "enforce" this stance are going to say to the U.K family of knockdown fighters when they are "told" to make friends! From what i have seen across the U.K there is nothing really to chose between the tuition in the groups it just comes down to individuals and their own mindset. Surely, politics aside the British Open (IFK) at K2 IS the biggest tournament in the U.K with fighters from NUMEROUS associations and countries taking part, how could a group tell their fighters they are not allowed to attend this major European event? Nobody is questioning their excellence in tuition etc; from what i have seen no better or worse than anybody else but this sheep mentality is what i question AND we all know where sheep end up. The proof of the pudding is in the eating, let fighters be free to fight who they chose and when they choose, it`s rather like a political party in the U.K get some seats and when they attend the house they all stand in the corner stamping their feet but i suppose we are lucky that people in this country CAN do what they wish! This is my opinion and i don`t speak for ANYBODY else.

Nothing in the monthly newsletter.
Maybe just a social call?
