Ok, so knockdown is a 1 round fight with extensions but we all know in reality most go 2 and finals 3 or even 4.
I have felt for a long time that the lack of a proper rest between rounds as every other fighting art gets has a negative effect on the quality of rounds 2,3 and 4.
For sure it makes it a harder test and obviously we all train accordingly but we cannot lose sight on the fact that events rely on spectators and I feel they deserve a better show of skill rather than it degenerating into an attritional slugging match.

Sabaki Challenge rules have a one minute rest between rounds 1 & 2, with no decision after the first round unless 6 points are in the bag.
Makes preparation fairly straightforward as the time is known long beforehand.
Promotion tests (1st Dan) are 10 x 1 minutes with 15 seconds rest.

I would also like to see drinks allowed during the rest period in knockdown fights

What I have in mind is a proper break, take on fluids - talk to the coach etc... maybe even a stool lol!
....Maybe we could break new ground at the Scottish Open 2015??

Even in bare knuckle you had 30 seconds to 'come up to scratch'. I hate seeing referees decide a fighter is okay (without seeing a doctor) after a good head kick that scored waza-ari (3 points in SC)
In my opinion that should merit a 30 second break as well.

I think it's just a hang over from the past where the idea was Knockdown was a 1 round fight with extensions, as the extensions were unplanned there was no allowance for a rest break. I do know this gives those of us who train for 4 min rounds an advantage as I've heard Kick Boxers etc get caught out by the lack of rest. But Quality suffers so I say lets lead the way. I will speak with Kancho Paul and see if we can introduce it for our closed Novice event this November and see if the quality improves.

Hard to imagine how it could possibly hurt anything.
Question now becomes, what's more important to the organiztion heads and/or event organizers: quality of the test that the fight presents the fighters(current format), or the quality of the fight itself in regards to what the spectators get/expect.
