not quite today.. but yesterday I got myself a new tattoo, it is my logo (Caledonia Kyokushin) on my upper arm, it is still a bit "raw" on this photo but you can see the image quite nicely

Hello all. Hope everyone has had a great Christmas and New Year. It's a few weeks now since my shoulder op (I think I've finally got over the trauma of having it under local anaesthetic when I was expecting a general - it meant I found out that it was the worst capsulitis the surgeon had ever seen (the competitive part of me went 'yes, get in' upon hearing this! and there was a surprise labral tear and I got to see it all on camera) so I had my second physiotherapy appointment. The physio told me that due to months of overcompensation by other muscles, I have distorted my shoulder blade (it now sticks out at the back) and it tends to completely hunch over at the front, so the plan now is to loosen up these muscles as much as possible. She gave me a (v. painful) armpit/shoulder blade manipulation and moved a couple of my exercises onto the next level. She said I've got the balance right between pain and overwork! It's still too early to tell if all will be well but I am doing all I can to help it along.

You can see why I call them physioterrorists!
Stick at it, it'll be worth it!

Just got done looking over the grant and performance measures for my new job I start as a Veterans Outreach Supervisor for a nonprofit organization. As a soon to be former state employee; I was technically paid hourly (never had one hour of OT LOL) and am going to a salary position which is good and bad...but I'm expecting better! I also plan on starting my masters finally next year and my goal before I hit 40 is to move up into a management type of position that has to do with continuing to serve veterans in need. However, we will see what happens because in all honesty it's not going to be about the money anymore. My reason for striving to higher positions is to be able to help as many vets as possible. I believe there are too many in my field as "veteran providers" that care more about themselves than the veterans they serve. Anyhow, before I ramble on and say some things I should not I will see I'm excited to start this new chapter in my professional life . Osu!
