So here's the thing , I sent off an email to the Kudo HQ the other day just to inquire if there are any plans to open any dojo in my country anytime in the near future to which I received a strange response , well not so much a response as a list of questions of me like my age , martial arts experience , years training , grade , tournament wins , number of dojo's etc; to which I replied that I was only asking a general question in relation to training in Kudo and haven't heard anything since , what's up with that ?

Kudo aims to expand. If you have previous training, like many who make inquiries, you could find yourself the new Kudo rep in your area.

Maybe they thought you wanted to open one?

But surely you would need to have some basic grounding in the system i.e. if you've no prior knowledge of grappling etc. how can you be expected to be a rep for a system that encompasses all of this ?

A little experience helps, of course. What they want from a rep is commitment (financial). Like operating any franchise, kudo would want to know if the candidate can bring in students and run a dojo. You would be put through an accelerated course at honbu, at the next nearest Kudo dojo, or when Azuma Kaicho or his reps travel and give seminars and tests abroad. This is not inside knowledge, just an impression I got observing a friend go through the process.

One would hope there is as much to Kudozenship as there is to citizenship, but that might be to much to expect. I wish I knew what kind of support reps get from honbu. Managing a small business is no small task.

Do you have any idea on what the financial commitment is ?

I wasn't privy to the discussions between Kudo and my friend so any guess by me would be unreliable. I sent you a message.
