In this months Fighting Fit mag:
Your biggest rival is yourself. In every second spent on fight preparation you face a battle between that best possible version of yourself, who does everything right in training, and the lesser version who seduces with short-cuts and pedals weak excuses. Get the better of this rival and all of the other rivals that you encounter will be much easier to overcome. So give it your best. Always.
Can't argue with that.

My experience is that if you give in to the 'shortcut voice' you always feel later like you cheated yourself somehow. Giving it your best always makes you feel great afterwards!
