Just playing around with our clubs 'Welcome' leaflet.
Any comments or suggestions appreciated!
LOUGHBOROUGH ENSHIN KAI
Welcome to our club!
Please read the following guidelines to learn how the club works and how to get the most from your membership.
WHY?
Challenging training will sharpen the mind, stiffen the spine and keep the body strong. It will never be easy, but the advantages far outweigh the minor physical discomfort and the odd bump and bruise. The people we recruit and train seek the ability to think on their feet and not even consider giving up. If that’s you, please read on …
STYLE
We practise the ENSHIN style of Kancho Joko Ninomiya. Enshin is a ‘full-contact’ ‘stand-up’ fighting style. The training is hard and you will be expected to give your best. Before you join we suggest you look at other clubs and compare the style and intensity of the training. We offer a free trial session so you can make sure Enshin is the type of training you are looking for.
KIT
We train in GI, a loose fitting karate outfit. Feel free to train in loose clothing until you buy one.
INSURANCE
Along with all exercise there is an element of risk and so for everyone’s protection insurance is required. This is due annually in October and if you join during the year fees are payable pro rata. Insurance must be paid following your trial session, before you start regular training.
TIMES
Current training times are:
Mondays 6:30pm to 7:30pm (general class) and 7:30pm to 9:00pm (advanced class)
Thursdays 7:00pm to 8:30pm (mixed class)
Saturdays 8:00am to 9:00am (by invitation only)
TRAINING
We will advise you which classes are most suitable for your current age and fitness. It is your responsibility to be on time. No admittance is allowed once a class has started. You will soon get the feel for the training but it is important to remember that there is no quick fix. Instinctive ability takes years of dedicated practise and as far as I know there are no shortcuts. Please don’t join if you’re looking for an easy way to get awesome.
SPARRING
As fitness and ability improves the sparring gets more challenging, but control is always required and we are always careful to avoid injuries. This is one of the principle benefits of training, learning how to control ourselves and replace fear and temper with a firm and steady confidence. Under 18’s must wear shin & instep pads, fist mitts, mouth guards and groin/chest protectors for sparring. Adults are strongly advised to do the same.
TESTS
Belt tests are held three times a year. To advance you must demonstrate greater skill and effort than other students at your current level. Your belt isn't everything. It's a useful measure of progress but it’s the courage and determination you build inside that matters.
DISCIPLINE
Enshin is disciplined training. We give everyone a fair chance, but if you are unable to act responsibly or follow the directions of the instructors you will not be welcome here.
COACHING FEES
Your first month's coaching fees are paid in cash, following which they are paid by standing order on the 1st of each calendar month. (Bank details are provided on joining) Please do not ask for free coaching. Everyone has unique circumstances so the only way this works fairly is if everyone pays.
So there you have it!
To get started, ring us on 07870 351628 to book your trial session. You have much to gain and nothing - except sweat - to lose.
Before long you’ll feel ready for anything. Over the years we have helped many people find their inner strength and I am confident we can do the same for you. I wish you every success in your training!
