I received good news today...well, possibly. Where I'm teaching for only $50 a month I can have the room as much as I want and can have outside university students which is great. I can't beat the price of "rent", and the room I have to teach in is gigantic. However, I also need to find insurance . So far, I'm seeing at least a $1200 and change premium, and I'm getting the impression this is something the companies I got quotes from want up front. I'm still at the early stages of this. I found some affordable insurance before but now I can't seem to find that company (??) anymore. Here in the USA any of you dojo/club operators know of any affordable insurance? I was referred one company I will be calling here soon but so far I'm seeing something like $22 and change a day for insurance through them which I still don't like (special event insurance for universities). I will also be charging tuition now which I wasn't before but it will still be low as possible..depending on insurance costs. Osu!

OSU, I heard my school got a great deal on insurance. I'll ask the Sensei who owns the dojo about it when I get the chance. It might be California only though. :/

Insurance here in the UK seems to be a lot easier and cheaper A problem with the US legal system. Everybody thinks they can sue for anything. Weather they are right or wrong. Looking for the easy payout. Little do they know, most karate schools don't have anything to sue for. (at least the people I am closest to)

Average price for insurance for a year for me is $450 but I may also want to officially buy a business license then become a LLC and buy extra "LLC" insurance on top of that. I'll be vacationing with my uncle here in a few weeks who's a judge so I can pick his brain if I need to go to that extent and unfortunately I may need to. Osu!

Received some possible good news today. Owner of a denture business in my area that makes custom mouth guards for fighters is interested in fronting the insurance cost and probably even more then that. The catch will be me teaching his kids which I have no problem with as long as he doesn't expect me to just promote them because he's paying...they'll have to earn it the same way as everyone else. So I'm in the early stages of negotiation, time will tell how this plays out. Osu!

Good luck with that, Po1. Hope it works out. As luck would have it about 15 minutes ago found out about another sponsor. I have students that are actively networking and finding me these opportunities so I must give them the credit. I'm meeting for lunch with the other potential sponsor tomorrow..and it's about 1 am over here LOL. Thank you very much, Ros, it's exciting but trying to stay grounded because my main goal right now in life is finally just finishing school, just a few more years to go. Osu!
