I have been looking at some "barefoot" training shoes for a while but they are kinda pricey.
I do most of my workouts in Converse Chuck Taylors for their non interfering sole.
This past weekend though my Mom took me and my wife shopping and she bought me a pair of these new FILA brand Skeletoes.
They are very similar to the Vibrams with some differences. The online reviews are mixed with most pointing that the Vibrams are still better( for twice as much they should be...)
I plan to use them mostly when lifting but I did some rope skipping and heavy bag work with them and it was great. So far I am really liking them.

I've been reading up on this and for some people these are not good shoes to purchase..for "some people", I mean those that over pronate/have flat feet, high arches, etc.
I fall into the over pronate field and need shoes with motion control. With that being said my footwear of preference are merrel moabs and merrel chameleons both with goretex and vibram outsoles, go figure LOL.
So the vibram five toes would not be good for me to do much in.
If I remember right, KvW rocks the vibram five toes? Osu!

I have flat feet. Have had em all my life. The flatter the shoe the better!
So for me these are great.

I am really enjoying these FILA Skelatoes.
I can really feel the tendons in my feet when I am doing Snatches and Swings.

I have the nike free shoes for when I have to wear shoes. In the gym for weight training, I wear socks. In the aerobics room I am barefoot but on the cardio equipment, I wear the nikes

Those skeletoes look pretty good, and the combined two smallest toes thing probably makes them a lot better for jump-roping in than my Vibrams, on account of the rope not constantly being caught in the smallest-toe slot.
Also being a third cheaper for something almost as good is a definite plus.

I stepped into the Vibram Five Finger pool yesterday. I ended up getting the Kimodos and they feel awesome. There is more padding in the Kimodo than the other styles. So far, these are the most comfortable shoes I own.
When I go for my run later, I think I will try them out, although I don't plan on using them for running (everything else in the gym, yes; running, no)
OSU!
