I was contacted to throw a self defense seminar for Women. Normally, I'm not a fan of doing such a thing, but this is for no profit for me, it's to raise money for somebody suffering from breast cancer.
Any ideas what sort of topics I should cover in a 2-4 hour self defense seminar? I'm under no illusion that I'll teach somebody how to be a competent fighter in that time frame but figure might as well make the most out of that short amount of time. Thanks for any ideas ahead of time. Osu!

Teach principles on awareness and minimizing the chance of getting in potentially hazardous situations. Go over using your voice to call attention or diffuse the situation.
If there's extra time, maybe go over a few basic large muscle group techniques (the ones that still have a chance of working properly when "fight or flight" takes over).

I didn't do it, nobody saw me do it, there's no way you can prove anything!

Use of keys, pens or anything at hand as an equalizer. Also targeting of eyes, throat, groin and instep area of the feet.

I tell my students frequently, when walking to their cars to have a key or similar object in hand and ready to use (stab attacker in the ribs). Just to get in the habit, our block is pretty safe but a few blocks away... watch out.
Since it looks like you are doing this during the holiday shopping season, it might be good also to address walking with hands loaded with packages, limiting ones ability to react.
