I'm not starting this as a place for me and others to bash on past or current students.
I may have to expel a student for various reasons I don't want to disclose. In all honesty, this is a new one for me, not something I can remember having to do before. The only time I have seen it have to take place was when a female teenager years ago decided to really go out of her way to get kicked out of the dojo.
I've been very lucky where all my students have been well behaved but I have came to a point where I see no choice but to expel one.
Any suggestions how to do this from any of your experience the best way possible? Osu!

I've recently expelled a youngster for not making any effort. I just told him he wasn't pulling his weight and told his mother she was wasting her money.
I think students sometimes fail to realise that freedom of choice goes both ways. If they are free to decide when they train and how much effort to put in, the instructor should also be free to decide who they wish to coach.
Of course, if the breach of the rules is more serious than mere apathy, it would help to have a written and accepted discipline procedure that clearly states the terms under which membership will be terminated. I've never had one or felt the need, as normally just a quiet word in their ear should suffice.

When a new member starts I have an emergency contact form I use, which has a note on it about discipline and being removed from the class... but its very basic you will find it on the www.kskscotland.com site under downloads It's geared towards kid's though not adults, I also currently have a message on my site (news & events page) about lazy kids For adults, if a word in their ear telling them the way things should be doesnt work, you may just have to tell them, "sorry it's not working out and time to call it a day"

I'm going to give this particular student one final chance, message was sent out to him..since he rarely makes it to class for me to actually tell him face to face like I'd prefer to do.
More or less relayed the message that if he doesn't start coming on a regular basis after winter break then there is no point in him coming. I look at the teacher-instructor relationship as a two way street, effort needs to be put in by both parties, not just one. Since I'm not currently teaching for profit, my motivation is having students that put in the effort to progress...if they're not doing that, I have no time for them. If the student puts in the effort, I'll do everything I can to coach them along to become the best they can be. Osu!
