I'm not by nature an early adopter. I went against type and got one of the early e-readers. Start-up takes so long, I wish I had waited for the faster and cheaper devices now available. Not in a hurry to upgrade.

I saw the new Nook Glow at Barnes and Noble. Pretty cool. It is an E-Ink reader but with a light so you can read in the dark.
I like the ones with E ink if I was going to read on them regularly.
Now if it supports PDFs and CBR then I am there.

Just reading Col. Jeff Cooper's "Principles of personal defence" on Kindle.
Only 40 pages and damned expensive, but I've yet to see the essential principles better explained. Recommended.
Gary
PS Read it, highlighted the best bits, returned for refund. I love kindle.

I have been listening to a lot of audio books lately because of my commute.
I finished the Hunger Games series, A Song of Ice and Fire series, Outliers and a few other misc. ones that I cannot think of.
I am starting on the Iain Abernathy podcasts now until I can find something else worth listening to.

Guess which copy a friend got for me for my birthday? A very lucky find! I am expecting it to arrive sometime between the 6th and the 13th. I will be happy if all the pages are there and I can read it, haha! We'll see if it really is what it claims to be. Feeling a bit like I've won the lottery here, heh!

WOW I have a mint copy of that sat of bookshelf that I bought new years ago, if they go for that price that's not a bad investment, better than a lot of shares! Not that I'd sell it mind, but might have got see about getting that and a few others covered on insurance...

Yar, a new edition reprint, but he doesn't know when it's going to happen yet. We'll see if it is for real or like, a xerox of a photo of the dust jacket or something, lol! Hopefully it has all the pages and is readable. OSU!

Got the book. Not only is it real and legit, but it is signed by Quinn Shihan and Sosai. It belonged to a Sensei on the east coast who passed away earlier this year. I tracked down his dojo and called them to let them know that his treasured book ended up in the hands of someone who would also treasure it, and who was also a Kyokushin karate-ka. This Sensei worked in Henri-Oh's dojo, and they're going to let him know. I hope that brings them some small measure of comfort in the face of their loss... this Sensei clearly valued the book. It's in excellent condition (except for the damage it suffered getting shipped to me in a vacuum seal bag, heh) and the pages are highlighted with ever piece of writing that he found especially poignant or important. I have a real treasure and I am glad of it. Loving the book so far, too. OSU!

"The strong need only remain watchful. The weak should take further precautions"
- Col. Jeff Cooper in his book 'Principles of Personal Defence'. Full of insights.
