www.eatmoveimprove.com/2010/3/the-fundamentals-of-bodyweight-strength-training/#bw1By solely doing pull ups and l-sits mixing in some TGU work and CnP and having never touched a barbell for bench press in over 3 years my number for Bench Press have actually increased. I haven't gotten in to a strict planche progression my wrists lack flexbility, I sort of agree with his statement. Anyone else have similar experiences?

It all depends on how you train.
I you are training with someone who really knows how to lift(powerlifter or olympic) you will get really strong.
If you are benching like a Body Builder than no.
I myself prefer compound or full body lifts and that is why I like Kettlebells,Olympic and bodyweight stuff.
I would not say one is vastly superior to another. Just how you train.

It depends on your objectives. While I'm aiming towards some bodyweight skills (Flag, OACU, planche/Maltese), I do like me some kb and db exercises.
Use push-up handles or parallettes for the planche progressions, sotacram. The handles work great when wrist flexibility is an issue. Over time the flexibility will come.

I guess I was just amazed that after 3 years of not benching anything really that my numbers had improved.
I also noticed a body composition change. Currently I am at my high school weight (35 lbs lower) but I have kept my strength in exercises that I don't practice ever.
I guess what I am trying to say is that the skill for kettle bells and body weight training transition much better to barbell lifting than barbell to body weight training.
On the flipside for pure leg strength nothing beats barbell dead lifts and squats.
Will pick up some bars for planches, thanks Meguro.

I've left the KB's alone these last two weeks and done a few bodyweight sessions. Nothing elaborate, but it reminded me how hard bodyweight stuff can be.

Hey, congrats on the weight loss, sotacram! That's quite an achievement!
I would consider hitting the bag and padwork bodyweight exercises. If all you did was hit things hard and fast, you're pretty much covered.

Thanks Meguro, it's been 6 months so I am going to claim the feat.
I don't want to ditch KB 100% for exercises like the clean, snatch, swing and TGU. Particularly the swing and TGU.
Numbers are addicting whether in #s, reps, or minutes.
