Howdy folks, I've been talking with Alvin Guinanao a Silat Instructor based in the UK about coming over to NYC for a weekend seminar, and it looks like it's going to happen. The dates are November 17-18. If you want to see NYC in the fall, and learn a little Silat in the bargain, this would be a prime opportunity. Al will be on Combat Masters tonight. www.blogtalkradio.com/docradio/2012/07/19/modern-combat-masters-with-host-gm-darrell-sarjeantHere's a link to Al's website. www.silatopencircle.com/If you've been wondering, "why Silat?" let me just say that I firmly believe that many of the moves that may seem puzzling to us in traditional Japanese kata may be better understood when seen from a different perspective.

Yeah, I'm looking forward to it. Worked on some passing and take-down drills with a local silat group over the weekend. Shuto mawashi uke comes to life with this stuff.
