Terrible to watch!
I know lots of good people there and can only hope they stayed safe.
Yet another reminder of how trivial my 'problems' are.

the moon is just about at it`s nearest to the earth since the last tsunami in asia, when this was publicised an "expert" said, "there is no reason to suggest we are about to have another disaster"
it looks to me this could end up as bad as the last one and i feel for the people out there, i was going to crack a joke about it in the joke forum and decided against it out of respect.
watch out for the next time the moon gets close!?

Here in Southern California I was issued this warning : "Tsunami wave warning for Southern California coastal cities and estimated wave height--huntington Beach: 1.3 feet, Redondo Beach: 1.8 feet..." Umm, that's not...that's like less than a normal surf day here...Not so much news that it needed to interrupt my TV watching.

Medguy- but it's a wave that keeps coming and coming and floods over everything. The tsunami wave up north that destroyed a harbor wasn't very tall either.

While its not a tsunami like that of late, I have been on the west coast of Florida when a nasty storm whipped up off the Gulf of Mexico and sent a 3ft storm surge that flooded everything and caused extensive damage in a very small area.....I couldnt imagine the vast expanse of a tsunami!!

I have a close childhood friend that lives in Tokyo that my brother and I have found out is alright, thank God.
My thoughts and prayers go out to everybody in Japan right now. Hoping that the nuclear powerplant problem is alright and doesn't get any worst, as well. Osu!

OSU! A truly amazing and dreadful event.
I'm thankful to the preparations of the Japanese people and the way they respect where they live to expect this sort of catastrophe. That is not to say there will not be high casualties, it was a huge quake and the Nuclear Emergency is worrying and the losses will be felt very heavily, but if they didn't take the proactive precautions in building codes and training that they do it would have been much much worst.
