Goes into effect in 2013, but they will live stream the 2012 events on the Spike website!
I'm excited about this and hope it brings a huge audience to a great sport.
Long live K-1!

Yeah I saw this news on Twitter.
I am hoping this gets K-1 back on the map.
I would rather see more K-1 and less MMA but that is just me..

Would be nice to see "kickboxing" become popular as it was in the late 90s with "oriental rules"/international rules, K-1 rules, modified MT rules, and full MT rules fights with high caliber fighters....even DRAKA rules which is similar to San Shou rules would be nice to see again . Osu!

Lots of stuff happening this weekend that I will be unable to attend. There is another Muay Thai seminar that I would have loved to participate in.

I agree with you Milkman would love to see more K-1 and less of this UFC and MMA that people believe is the greatest and only thing that will work in a real situation. Not knowing that they have also removed a lot of rules to allow for safety.

The problem when martial arts become mainstream entertainment, i.e. "combat sports," is that casual hobbyists and fans start to consider themselves "fighters" and/or "experts" of said combat sport/sogo kakutougi. I used to help matchmake MMA, Kickboxing, and Muay Thai fights, and knew just about every local fighter and coach...I knew Chris Leben this way before he was on the first season of The Ultimate Fighter. Everyone knew each other that did kickboxing, MT, BJJ, fight MMA, etc... The problem now is every Joe Schmo thinks they're qualified to teach students to compete in the above described style of fights, and that they're qualified instructors of said fights. The way it used to be is, you trained, and to become an instructor were someone that had fights under a qualified/experienced instructor, and went through a sort of an apprenticeship. The average fan thinks they're qualified enough to comment on what should have been done... I like knockdown karate tournaments usually more, because I see less of this attitude, but I do see it sometime. Even starting to see wannabe kickboxing/MMA schmucks enter knockdown karate tournaments that never enter kickboxing/MMA fight cards, but will come to a knockdown karate tournament "Wow, you're so cool, you're a MMA fighter, but don't enter MMA fights." Enough of my ramble, it would be nice to see K-1, Shidokan, San Shou, Draka, and knockdown karate tournaments on PPV or some type of televised TV again. Shockingly, in the 90s, K-1, Shidokan, San Shou, and Draka were all on cable or PPV...thank you to my uncle that gave me a descrambler box . Osu!

I heard there were a lot of disappointed customers on the night with the streaming not working etc.... too much demand or not enough preparation, either way the worst kind of marketing for the new events, think they need to go out of their way to make sure everyone affected gets a refund+ some sort of discount on the next show. There is some decent looking MMA on British TV this weekend on 5* - think it's even on most free view sets but I do have a basic (not sports) Sky package so not 100%. Saturday night 9pm we have a BBQ that night so it will both be on and recorded
