Sorry if this annoys like spiels by those pesky door to door missionaries, but swinging a kettlebell or T handle is a great way to cut weight and build strength and endurance. Not sure how your SI joint can deal with it, but the weight itself is pretty light compared to typical barbell training.

Yes I basically torched 2 inches off of my waist with the kb in the past 6 months.
