Hi all, any of you know of a Kyokushin dojo in High Wycombe Buckinghamshire?
One of our young Sensei's is heading there for Uni and it would be great to keep him in the Kyokushin family.
OSU!
Trevor.

seido.org.uk/Tadashi Nakamura's Seido karate have their main uk dojo there, run by Shihan Thyer-Jones. Not sure tbh how similar to kyokushin it is now, trained there once many moons ago.

I could be way off, and maybe mixing this up with something, but has Seido (not Seidokaikan) gone more of the "classical karate way," meaning not knockdown kumite, more like lots of kihon, kata, shobu sanbon kata, and more JKA or WKF rules kumite? Sometimes doing knockdown kumite, but a lot more controlled than a jiyu kumite? Just saying this for general knowledge, even though the roots are Kyokushin, the kumite, I believe has evolved to not be as "full contact." Please correct me if I'm wrong, I'm just an admin on this board, big woop-dee-doo, there is much I don't know, and much I'm often wrong about . Osu!

I understand Power of One you are right and tbh I don't think that would be for this particular guy - he is capable and clean in both kihon and kata, can do and has won Clicker comps but he is very much a knockdown fighter - not sure he could be in a Gi and not kick someone lol

Trained there +/-20yr ago for one night tbh so couldn't comment on them now(or then even tbh!) Perhaps may be a Muay Thai club around there, be a different take on 'sparring' etc?

I know that Seido Juku does emphasize Kihon/Kata more than Kumite. From what I remember that don't do much Kumite and only really Green belt and up.
