There's only one space on a winners rostrum for a reason.
When fighters succeed they deserve the credit. They did the work. Fair play to them.
Coaches are used to being the unseen hand. Often they are the first to be sacked (in major sports) when things go wrong, and the last to be thanked when things go well.
So it was a real pleasure to be given a thank you card last night by a member who will be competing at the weekend. In 32 years of coaching I can't really remember that happening before. Thanks if they won, for sure, but never 'Whatever the result, thanks for all your effort'.
There are times as coaches where we wonder if we're hitting the spot, then moments like this that make all the time and effort worthwhile.
So THANKS. (You know who you are)
:-)

Well deserved Gary! Your students abilities both on and off the mat are a testament to your coaching.
Thanks to you for giving us your insights here at KDF.

That's awesome Gary, and well deserved! I don't believe I've ever had that, but I've only been instructing off and on, on my own for about 11 years, I still have a ways to go . Osu!

Some things make it all worthwhile.
Tonight I was speechless (rare for me) to find the club had bought me a new timer thingumynanoandroidwhatsit - that my oldest went "Wow!" over.
Even more touching was a generous collection they had had in aid of research following the death of Lisa's brother.
We both really appreciate the thought.
Gary
