I used to have every IKO memorized, who was the Kaicho/Kancho and so forth.
These days, I just pay attention to who I think is good, I could care less what org they're in.
With that being said, if you ask me who's in IKO4, 5, 3, or 1 I may not know but that doesn't mean I don't know anything.
I mean no disrespect to any of you in an IKO, neither. If you feel the same about the org I'm in, adding to the confusion, I will hold no offense, neither.
If you're good, you're good.
I will say the only "style difference" I really notice is that in IKO1 it's more "toe to toe" fighting whileas in IKO2 I see more foot work, working distance with flashier techniques. That doesn't mean they're not in any other IKO...just what I notice.
Just my own opinion over years of experience. Osu!

I'm still trying to figure out who is who, haha!
To add to the confusion, it seems like there are some new orgs popping up at least once or twice a month.
All of them say they're the true, pure Kyokushin.
I've heard Sosai taught different things to different people at different times.
Probably everyone is right to some degree. The problem I guess is recognizing that, instead of thinking there is only one true way ever and that's it. I'm naive and and idealist and I think that we can all learn a lot from one another if we focus on what we have in common and then learn from each other from there, instead of focusing on all our differences and how everybody else must be getting it all wrong, darn it!
But yeah, naive idealist here. :}

In terms of media saturation, IKO1 and IKO2, are the orgs that stand out, the rest for me are indistinguishable. That's not a knock on any org, there are just so many that it is hard to keep track. If I were a beginner, it may have been important. Now that I have graduated (or dropped out) it hardly matters. I never dwell on who is the principal of my old grammar school, why would I care today? The connection for me is that our struggles and little triumphs were/are similar.

Even some of the other IKO's themselves have split. It is so divided now.

IKO1 is the PC. IKO2 is apple. At least in branding and marketing it would seem (not in terms of product reliability).
