I'm a former student of Gary's from several years ago and now I can't shake the knockdown bug. I blame you sensei! In all honesty money is a bit tight at the moment, but when things ease up I want to get back into some knockdown training, ideally here in Nottingham in the UK. I loved Gary's training in both the Enshin and Charnwood incarnations, so Ashihara would be interesting but I don't think there is any near here. If not does anyone have recommendations for Kyokushin or Kudo near here? In all honesty, I'm not that keen on learning a whole bunch of Kyokushin kata as they are similar to the TKD patterns I already know. That's why I liked the Enshin Kata more for example. Thanks for any info folks Mitch

Hi Monty Best wishes to you and Ros, as always. Did you find anywhere else to train in Loughborough? I did try here www.bestwoodkyokushinkai.com/ and enjoyed a few lessons, but honestly the thought of learning another 24+ kata put me off a bit. Plus we can't afford it at the moment, though hopefully will be able to again soon. Mitch

At the moment I am just doing Kettle bells with Paul and sometimes we still meet on a Saturday at John's (8am this Saturday if you're interested).
We haven't found any other club yet, need to start looking properly but, like you, the thought of loads of Kata is off putting.

How about posting a notice on Meetup to see how many folks in your area want to train knockdown with no kata?
