There's a nice little youtube doing the rounds of Matsui sparring with other styles (and not enjoying it ) so he obviously saw the benefit of broadening his experience.
Makes no sense to deny his members the same lessons.
But that's not the core issue to me, it's letting someone on the other side of the world tell you what you can do.
F*** that.

It's a crying shame for the students, this message was originally posted to stop members of said organisation atending the Cameron Quinn seminar next year

In my humble opinion, people who obey directives from thousands of miles away bearing in mind that these directives are not put in place to help the student suffer from the "sheep" mentality and we all know what happens to sheep, sooner or later!!

Every adult is in charge of his own education. To hand over that responsibility to another is not very adult like.

It's a crying shame for the students, this message was originally posted to stop members of said organisation atending the Cameron Quinn seminar next year Pfft, that is pretty sad. Quinn Shihan has only ever had polite things to say about him to me. He said that Matsui was a good teacher, in fact. It's a shame politics and grudges and whatever else get in the way of people learning from a great teacher. He's even managed to help ME from the other side of the planet with a couple things. If anyone out there is reading this- ignore that message, go anyway, and you don't have to tell Matsui or whomever passed this along that you went. OSU!

It's a crazy rule where knowledge is available but people are scared of it if it wears the wrong badge.

I was told last night by somebody who achieved nidan in IKO1 U.K that he had a letter sent to him many years ago stating everything that has already been mentioned AND that members must not socialise, talk to or be seen with members of other Kyokushin organisations!
At the end of the day the proof of the pudding is in the eating, if standards are high and karateka who represent other organisations do well and perhaps exceed their own fighters they must wonder why?
Only my view, i only speak for myself but i can`t see other kyokushin groups queuing to take part in their tournaments which is a shame because i was at a IKO1 tournament where the judging was fair and i have to say the people running it were really nice people and obviously good at what they do but so are other people from other organisations as well.

I think you should be able to train at as many dojos(gyms) you like if the trainers want to train you. Because some dojo's are not full time.
With competitions every organisation can hold there own to make money and so fourth as long as any full contact fighter can enter to become a world champion vs the best of the best.
