The only time I experienced swelling like that was after an operation. You did the right thing going to A & E. As to the effect, I've been caught a few times and it always seemed worse in light sparring than it ever did in a brawl. Once adrenaline is flowing freely you don't notice a lot until it subsides. There was a rugby league player here recently that ruptured his testicle and carried on playing for another half an hour. He afterwards said it was "Uncomfortable". So I suppose everyone has a different definition of pain. Gary (Made me cringe just typing that) www.totalprosports.com/2012/10/09/rugby-player-paul-wood-rupture-testicle/Super cringe @ the rugby story As for me, today is day 6 and the swelling has gone down dramatically but equally as dramatic is how much the pain has increased It is almost unbearable, with yesterday having been the absolute worst day thus far. Considering investing in a cup, or at the very least a jock strap?

Yeah I recommend a CUP for sure. I got beaned once and that was enough for me to wear a cup at class.

When I was competing (many moons ago), even during normal training I wore a cup just so that it felt "normal" when I was fighting, after a while you don't even notice it.

Groin guards and gum shields now.
Many used no PPE in the 70's - we were told the Japanese never did - but why take the risk?
