I know Meguro mentioned elbow blocking for punching. The instruction about the technique is interesting.

Very interesting. There is a set of moves as a counter exactly like that in the Enshin Kogeki no Kata. It is the black belt level kata. It is done before the punch is thrown but it has the same principle. Get their guard down and then counter.

Haha. I am following Master Wong on YouTube. What a character!
If you remember any instances in kata when you are slapping your elbow, think of your slapping hand as parrying and guiding the incoming fist into the point of your elbow. Works very well!

I always use my elbow for guiding the incoming stiff straight/cross into my elbow...learned it in Muay Thai, very effective and easy to do . The issue I have with this video is, it's very easy to "teach"/demonstrate when you're only doing 1-2 techniques, and know what's being thrown your way. I'd really enjoy to see a video of Wong apply this in noncompliant sparring. Perhaps he can, and turn my criticism around...I'll gladly eat my words, if he can do so Osu!

I haven't seen master Wong compete. I think his forte is producing entertaining videos while mangling his partners and English, no disrespect intended. I sometimes cover-up, with alternating, rising elbows blocks/strikes. It gets my sparring partners laughing, til I'm inside with neck/ arm control.
