One day you'll thank me. (Today is not that day and tomorrow's not looking good either ) Au contraire, my adductors and hamstrings are "thanking you" with every step today! ;D

You'll forget about it once you get sweaty and start hitting things.
Hope you don't make it worse.

It went from a small twinge in the gym to full-on pain from arse to calf later in the evening. If I was superstitious I would think some unseen force didn't want me to test for 3rd kyu! ;D

I'm sure you'll be fine. I'll know why you're limping at any rate.
I'm not daft, if someone's injured I take that into account. (Been there, cursed the T shirt)
Be sensible and above all, don't bugger yourself up for weeks just for the sake of a certificate.

I had a quick Google and this seemed to fit quite well:
Sciatica is pain in the lower extremity resulting from irritation of the sciatic nerve. The pain of sciatica is typically felt from the low back (lumbar area) to behind the thigh and radiating down below the knee. The sciatic nerve is the largest nerve in the body and begins from nerve roots in the lumbar spinal cord in the low back and extends through the buttock area to send nerve endings down the lower limb. The pain of sciatica is sometimes referred to as sciatic nerve pain.
Sciatica causes pain, a burning sensation, numbness, or tingling radiating from the lower back and upper buttock down the back of the thigh to the back of the leg. The result is leg pain.

Sciatica-I hate when that happens! Have you tried these stretches, Ros?

My leg has decided I've had enough kip, so I thought I might as well get up and tell you about yesterday's grading. I spent all day wondering whether I'd be able to give it a go or not and in the end just thought, what the hell, if I have to drop out there's always next time. Luckily for me a lot of the test was spent on kata, so after whipping through the basics I was able to sit down and hug my leg when I wasn't up. I still had to mentally grit my teeth to get through, but I don't think my kata suffered too badly. Sparring was a bit different. The first couple of rounds weren't too bad but then I started to feel some white-hot daggers down my leg and it was the only thing I could think about. My body then decided it would relieve my internal pain-pressure gauge via the release of some lachrymal secretions! Oh dear, let's pretend that never happened. I'm pleased to say I made it to the end and got 3rd kyu and also congratulations to our dojo-mate who successfully got first dan. Which proved to be a good opportunity to stay in the pub until kicking out time!
