Yeah I have only free held a handstand a few times and it was only 3-5 seconds so far.

According to an instructional vid, you've got to try kicking up to a free handstand 100x's per day for a week! I don't come close to that kind of volume. I guess that's the problem. also, I've been more focused on the strength aspect and figured the balance would come eventually. Eventually is a long time in my case. I think more dedicated balancing and less emphasis on the pressing for now. On the MA front, the dojo is open again after the summer break. We worked on using the pass/check to set up an arm-bar and sweep. 9-19-17 -hand stand balances -pseudo planche leans on the Swiss ball -flies and roll-outs, 5x4 -front lever raises, 5x6 secs -t handle swings, 4x25 -straddle holds, 3x1 min

9-21-17 -Hand balances and planche-ish dismounts -front lever flutter kicks, 5x10 -HSPU, 3x7 -flies and rollouts, 4x4 -straddle holds, 4x1
After each attempt at the hand stand, I did a front lever raise. I didn't count reps but a lot for me (nowhere near 100).

I have been keeping track of my work-outs on post-its lately: just a bunch of hash marks representing sets alongside a column of acronyms denoting the exercise. Same old stuff, really. One thing I noted is that even though two of the main exercises were body-weight (HSPU, archer pull-up) there was huge transfer over to weighted exercise. For example, I set-up to do weighted pull-ups with the 16kgs, KB. The archer pull-ups must have really activated the lats because I was getting airtime (no kipping) even with the KB. I decided to do weighted archer-pull-ups (8kgs). Weighted dips (24kgs) seemed pretty easy too.
A sample work-out: -front lever 5x1 -HSPU, 4x5 -archer pu's, 4x4 -front lever flutter kicks, 4x10 -frog stands (single leg and other advanced variations) -roll-outs and straight arm flies, 4x5
I try to corporate some cardio too. Just started doing KB snatches again, but since my wrist will always be a problem, I'm sticking with the 16.

On the road again for a few weeks. Different equipment. Brought my parallettes. 11/1/17 -HSPU, 4x5 11/2/17 -HSPU, 4x6 -ATFLBR's 20 -archer pull-ups, 15lbs,4x4 -db squat cleans, 2x45's, 10; 2x50's, 10 I like squat cleans with relatively light weight of the db's. At my age, the image of vertebral discs shooting out of my spine like Pez candies from a dispenser scare the bejeezus out of me.

11-4-17 -ATFLBR 20 -archer pull-ups, 15 lbs, 4x4 -dips, 4x10 -db cleans, 100lbs, 3x10
I'm digging the db cleans as cardio. . . that or I'm am misinterpreting an angina attack.
11-5-17 -HSPU, 4x6 -Hand stand balances

In a moment of weakness I succumbed to a GAS (gear acquisition syndrome) attack: ordered a 32 kgs kb from Kettlebell kings. I do not need this kb. I won't be snatching it (at least not with the bum left hand), nor will I be doing cleans, TGU's and presses. I envision swings, dips and pull-ups for sure, but a kb isn't required for this stuff. Like I said, GAS attack.
11-10-17 -HSPU, 4x6 -ATFLBR, 20 -Front lever flutter kicks, 4x10 -archer pull-ups, 4x4 -DB front squats, 5x10, 100lbs

Not going crazy, avoiding strain.

A 32kg is a nice bell to have. Great for two hand and single arm swings. 2x32kg is great for farmers walks.

2x32, don't tempt me. I just found out about a Silat seminar in Stamford, CT this weekend. I plan on attending and hope to meet some of the knockdown crew in the area who might be in attendance.

11/15/17 -HSPU, 7,7,6,6
11/16/17 -HSPU, 4x8 -kb swings, 32kgs, 80 -ATFLBR,20 -Front lever flutter kicks, 4x10 -Archer pull-ups, 4x4 -ballistic pull-ups,3x4 -inverted dl to front lever 5x1
I had a lot of trouble with the inverted dl to front levers. Not sure if the difficulty stems from neglect or fatigue.
So the new kb arrived from Kettlebell Kings. It's a beauty.

So the new kb is pretty sweet. So far nothing too challenging- just swings. During the honeymoon period, I figure 100 swings a day in sets of 25, with 8 HSPU in-between. It's 5 minutes workout between brushing teeth and breakfast. I miss the akro wheels for the roll-outs and flies. I'll have to find a packable alternative.
Saturday I met Sue from Bob H's dojo at a silat seminar. It used knife-play to introduce takedowns, chokes and joint destruction apps. Good people in attendance. I wish I could have stuck around after for the get-together at a brewery.

11/23/17 -kb swings4x25 -HSPU, 4x8
11/25/17 -ATFLBR, 20 -Dips, 4x10 -8 finger pull-ups, 4x4 * -Front lever raises, 4x4 -kb swings, 4x13 -HSPU, 4x5
*working hand, normal grip/ assistance hand (middle, ring and pinkie on the bar), I finished with kb swings and HSPU, doing the HSPU's between the sets of swings at a crazy fast pace, and burned out sooner than I anticipated.
