9-4-16 -ATFLBRS & dips, 30 -50 KB snatches -7x6 dips, 24kgs -7x4 uneven pull-ups -inverted hang to ATFL, 3x3 -50 KB snatches I was looking at a journal entry from 2 years ago when I was doing 500 KB swings per day for the 10,000 swing challenge. If only KB snatches were as easy. I also noted that doing all those swings did nothing for my physique; no visible change. With the snatches, it's a different story: noticeable trap development. Maybe it means I'm not using enough hip hinge and so compensating with upper body pulling. Dunno, but I'll take the results.

The traps get hit hard during the lock out up top. Pretty normal for lots of snatching. :-)

Yup. It caught me by surprise-a serendipitous yoke. 9-6-16 -ATFLBRS & dips, 30 - 50 KB snatches -dips, 24kgs, 6x7 -pull-ups, 24 kgs, 6x3 -inverted hang to ATFL, 3x5 -handstands ( using finger pressure to balance) -50 KB snatches This is how body dismorphia starts. I'm going to try and get a wall-less handstand to balance out the traps. the 50 rep snatches leave me less winded. I'll work my way to bigger sets and figure on trying a timed run for 100 when I've got sets of 70 under my belt. Dojo opens on Friday!

Nothing strenuous today. Lots of rolling, shoulder and hip mobility stuff, and chilling.

More dips and fewer uneven pull-ups.:/

Friday night was the reopening of the dojo after summer break. We worked on a variety of combinations on the standard beginner entries and finishing technique (neck cranks and chokes)-think of it like jazz improvisation. I also filmed applications of shuto mawashi uke/osai uke which I'll post soon.
9-11-16 -inverted hang to single leg front lever, 2x3x3 -bent arm, L-sit leg flutters -hand stand balances
By some strange stroke of luck, one of my kids agreed to hit the pads while I held. We worked on position and the basics of slashing elbows, and upper-cut elbow strikes. I figure elbows are better than punching because it'll take the girls years to condition their hands (there goes my first timer, overhand right syllabus out the window). Plus, elbows seem easier to deploy from a panic, flinch response.

So I got a couple MT pad sessions in with my daughter. It's nice to see beginners progress from zero. Got half way through my workout today and my family insisted we leave immediately for pizza. Who am I to deny them pizza. -30 ATFLBRs, 30 dips -50 kb snatches I had pizza with anchovies and zucchini flowers.

Perhaps you've seen the vid of a young mom doing amazing handstands and other balancing tricks with her kids on her back. My feeble attempts at balancing are so far on the other side of the curve.

We had a belated Thanksgiving as one of my kids was away on a school trip to Munch and Dachau. When everyone finally got together, the kids fixed up a meal of roasted veggies over a bed of cous cous and mac & cheese. No turkey, because I hate roasted turkey. 11-27-16 - pike push-ups, 4x25 - KB thrusters, 24 kgs, 100 - inverted dl's, 3x10 - front lever progressions -hand stand balances After my workout, I broke out the Muay Thai pads and helped my older daughter with elbow strikes and clinch work. It is rewarding to witness her power development when I hold the pads.

I'd like to try deep frying one of those critters. 11-30-16 - inverted dl's, 3x11, front lever progressions - *weighted single armed KB thruster, 10x10 - tekpi * pressed the 24 kgs KB for the thruster, & held onto the 16 kgs KB with the free hand.
