Checking in on Facebook for the World Sabaki it seems that also there is talk that Kancho is introducing a new kata to the Enshin system. I have no idea what level it is for yet. Details to come.

My Sensei tells me it is a new Black Belt level kata and a new DVD is coming as well.

It's a pity There was never an Enshin dojo nearby. I would have liked to have tried it.

I don't dare look at the video in case it takes a good couple of hours longer than the scheduled running time!

For those who don't get that: Chandana is a great bloke and very helpful, but runs on a totally different clock to the rest of us. If he says "10:00am start", take a picnic. Gary

Since grabbing is allowed in tournament play, is there any grip fighting (ie. where fighters attempt to get a superior hold on the other while preventing the other from grabbing hold)?

They train that at honbu but I must admit we only do it in general partner work.
Kancho and Mike were both really good at Judo so it spills over.

Yes. We also have done some and then it becomes a different strategy of who can out smart to out balance the other opponent.

Just curious as to Matsui's visit to the Enshin Honbu. I haven't seen anything posted on it. Not heard anything. Maybe it was a 'private' visit, but I'm sure they'll report it in the monthly newsletter. I'll post what I hear. Gary

While doing a bit of research into Akira Masuda's Freestyle Karate Project from my limited knowledge it looks quite similar to Enshin ( or what I know of Enshin ) can those in the know shed more light on this for me particularly in relation to throws used ?
