5-12-16 -ATFLBR 20, dip 20, db dl10 -10x(dbclean2fronsqauts+3pull-ups(24kgs)+3dips(24kgs)) -rollouts and flies I'm definitely leaving a lot on the table. If there were a tournament to get in shape for I'd be doing something completely different. At my age, avoiding injury, hypertension and diabetes is self-defense.

5-21-16 -mall cop snatch test (16 kgs, 100 reps, <5 min) -dips 3x10 -pull-ups, 3x10 -roll-outs and flies
The days following a night at the dojo are usually light; foam roller and lazing about. Today is such a day. Yesterday, before class I tried the SSST using a 6x13 and 2x11 set rep scheme. I also included 10 secs of breathing between sets. The rests did not help as expected, I hit 73 reps at the 5 min mark. With the lighter kb, 16 kgs, and no rests I finished the mall cop snatch test ( that's what I call it) in 4'53"48. This tells me two things: no rests for the SSST; a more dynamic hike is needed.
Class focused on takedowns and then working on a routine for a demo; mine will feature kakeashi dachi as an arm control and choke.

5-22-16 - db dls x75lbs, 5x10 - pseudo planche push-ups and leans, 3x10
The back of my knee feels weird, like it was liable to collapse at certain angles. Because of this I went for dls instead of front squats. I'm not sure what's going there. Don't remember injuring it.

Hope you guys are okay there meguro. Saw your FB posts about the water flooding the streets.

It was a little scary at the beginning because I thought the river had undermined the street. If that was the case, buildings would have crumbled for sure as there's no way to shut off a river. With a busted water main, at least there's the option of turning a valve. So that's where I am, no water pressure.
Amidst the drama I got a little workout in. -db dl's, 2x75lbs, 5x10 -kb OHP, 24 kgs, 2x5x5 -kb windmill, 16 kgs, 2x3x5

The water situation is sorted, after a few days of inconvenience. The street still looks like a war zone though.
MMX got me thinking about the SST again, so for the past few days I've been working on the hip snap by loading up my T-handle for heavy swings.
The past three workouts looked like this: -pull-ups 20, dips, 20 -pull-ups 16kgs/dips 16 kgs 8,8,6,5,5 -roll-outs and flies -T handle swings 85 lbs, 100
Last night we practiced a no gi sacrifice throw. Meh, not my favorite. It looks like yoko wakare, which I like very much and can pull off without a hitch. Too bad for me yoko wakare is a throw I need a gi for, for the moment.

So I've been living the bachelor's life the past week since the wife and kids took an early flight to Japan for summer break. I'm sticking around for a while before I join them. The change in temporary living arrangements means the house gets a little more messy and other routines, like logging workouts get ignored. I'm still training though.
6-23-16 -pull-ups/dips, 30 -pull-ups/dips/ w/16 kgs, 12,11,10, 9, 8 -flies and roll-outs, 3x10 -kb swings, 24kgs, 2x60
So, a little progress in the pull-ups and dips and no pain in the joints.
