Saturday, Dojo trainingGary was back in charge this week Warmed up with the usual three punches, Low kick, knee kick, high kick Then we changed the drill to switch step, inside low kick, knee kick And then we added a rolling throw on the end. Next we changed the rolling throw to a different throw that's name escapes me. The pads came out and we did minute rounds of... Chudan mawashi geri Chudan mawashi geri followed by hiki kazushi/chudan mawashi geri Chudan or gedan mawashi geri Anything the pad man gives you We then did some pushing your opponent off the mats finished with some exercises we've never done before... Crawling Farmers walk (but with a Kettlebell held about 6 inches infront of you) 1 arm/opposite leg pressup hold

Ohhhh I like that. Those "Steering wheel carries" as I call them with the KB are pretty awesome.

Saturday, dojo training
No Gary today, just Alex and I.
Warmed up with...
Three punches, low kick, knee kick, high kick. Kata, white to brown slow to the count.
We then moved onto the bags and did several 40 second rounds of Arms only, legs only & anything
Then we moved back on the mats and the pads came out and we did hit what the pad man gives you. Ros joined us for this as she was missing hitting stuff.
We then revisited the initial warm up drill but with a takedown on the end.
Finished with a circuit of various exercises.

A small group of dedicated fighters is better than a large distracted crowd who might get in the way of good practice.

About a dozen would be nice but 0800 on a Saturday morning seems to put everyone except the mentally strong off.

Saturday, Dojo TrainingWarm up was a bit different today, I'll try and explain but it may go a bit wrong... Start in the TGU position (without a KB) Move left knee up and right arm out as you would do in a TGU Place left hand next to(well shoulder width from) right hand Kick Right leg through under body(still like a TGU)(should end up in Press-up position) Do said press-up Move right leg close to right hand Move left leg close to left hand Do the up bit of a squat Do the down bit of a squat Put hands on the floor infront of feet Put legs back out to press-up position Lower yourself top the ground Put one arm out (like half a crucifix position) Roll over onto back Repeat this changing starting side as many times as poss in 3 mins. With learning the routine managed 13, should imrove that next time. Then we went back to the usual three punches, Low kick, knee kick, high kick Next we moved to the bags and did... Switch step/Low kick Switch step/Low kick or Mid kick Switch step X 2/Low kick Mix it up with switch step Low, Mid, High or Front kick Three kicks to get the bag to touch the wall The rest of the session was kata, Me doing the attacks for Alex, him doing them for me. White-Brown belt. Fell a bit dodgy on my bad knee and had to hop round for a couple of minutes swearing a bit Seems ok now, just a little dull ache that I am treating with alcohol (drinking not rubbing)

Glad your knee's ok. Awful flashback there to Andy in pain and a sad outcome.

Saturday, Dojo training
Warmed up with the usual three punches, low kick, knee kick, high kick.
Next we had one of us defending against the other two attacking with...
Three punches Three punches, low kick Three punches, hiki mawashi/hiza geri Three punches, Hiki kazushi/mawashi geri
We then did some crawling(of different variations)
And then did three minutes of the weird TGU, Press up, squat thing from last week.
Then for 'Fun' we did similar but with Hand clap press-up and jump squat!
We finished with Brown belt kata against attacks

I wish there was one other weirdo nearby I could practice this stuff with on a Saturday morning. I should put an ad in the personals.

Saturday, Dojo trainingGreat session today. Warmed up on the bags(due to john deciding to hoover the mats)... Front punch Front/Reverse Front/Reverse/Shovel Front/Reverse/Shovel/low kick Front/Reverse/Shovel/low kick/knee kick Front/Reverse/Shovel/low kick/knee kick/high kick Next We took it in turns to be on while the other two attacked with round kick, you had to block and then counter with a throw. still with 1 person on for 90 seconds, attackers could do any attack. If the attacker landed a strike or kick they get 5 seconds of the amount of time they have to be on. We did that a couple of times then we changed it up and the 90 seconds were scored and as soon as you reached 6 points the round stopped. next during the 90 seconds if the defender scored they got the points but if the attacker landed something a point was deducted. I was pleased that I managed to get a good back kick counter/takedown(move in at 45 degrees, arm under the leg, Knee strike to the arse cheek of their supporting leg as you lift them off the ground and dump them on their arse)
