Saturday, dojo training
Just Alex and I today.
Started off with 20 mins speedplay on the bags alternating who was working and who was holding.
Next, still on the bags, we practiced some hooks and shovel hooks.
We then did several mins of hit what the padman gives you.
Next we did the usual warm up routine on the pads starting with the three punches and adding bits until we were at the full combination plus takedown.
Finished off with the cards, 1-5 exercises.

Saturday, Dojo TrainingKihon was the first 3/4 of the session, going through all the strikes, kicks and blocks. We also used a partner at various points to help with Kicking(this included an amount of time doing Mawashi geri/Ushiro Mawashi geri over their squatting heads) We (and by that I mean I) did a tabata timed set of... Left leg forward, three punches, low kick, knee kick, high kick Then Right leg forward, three punches, low kick, knee kick, high kick Repeat X 4 It was very horrible Then we moved onto the bags and did the same combo, Me doing 6 in 30 seconds, Alex doing 3 in 30 seconds. Did this three times with me going down to 5 then 4. And then Vomit occured

Saturday, Dojo training
No Gary today so Paul and I cobbled together a lesson plan.
Warmed up with the usual three punches, low kick, knee kick, high kick
Then added the take down on the end.
Next we moved to the bags and did (one working, one holding, one resting)...
Front, reverse, shovel X 5 (each side) Mawashi geri x 5 (each side) Mae geri, mawashi geri X 5 (each side) Front, reverse, hook(off same hand as reverse) x 5 (each side) Gedan mawashi geri (under the bag), Ushiro mawashi geri X 10 (all on same side)
We then did White, Blue and Yellow belt kata with 1 person doing it the other 2 attacking
We then did Kihon as a cool down.
But then we did 2 mins crawling!

Saturday, Dojo Training
We warmed up by going through the Kihon.
Then we moved onto the bags and did 30 second rounds (one holds, one rests, one works) of various combinations.
Next we did Kata: Brown, Green and Yellow with the attacker having the pads so the person doing the kata could put the techniques in properly.
Then Paul did 2nd dan kata with me being the counterer.
Then I did 1st Dan kata with Paul being the stooge.

Saturday, dojo trainingGood to have Gary back coaching:) Great to see Andrew back at training, he gets stronger each time I train with him. warmed up with front, reverse, shovel then added the low kick and then knee kick and then the high kick then things got a bit different... your partner pushed back the high kick and you continued the turn and did ushiro mawashi geri(ala brown belt kata) next was some mawashi geri\ushiro mawashi geri over squatting partners head, we tried to work on decreasing the weight on the supporting leg(even jumping if you could). This had the effect (on me) of making me forget about trying to force the ushiro mawashi geri through and it felt much smoother Then we did several rounds of 1 person on with the other two attacking. We moved to the bags and did a negative tabata(ie 10 on, 20 rest). finished with some standing broad jumps and handclap press ups and some other things.

Then we did some kata, Paul and i doing the attacks for Alex and Andrew for white, blue yellow and green. in between these Paul and I did 2nd dan and black belt kata.
next we had 1 person on dealing with atacks coming from the other 3 in turn.

Wednesday, Kettlebell clubFirst session of the summer kettlebell club today Paul came round to ours with some crazy ideas Warmed up with 25 squats holding a 6kg med ball in front of you, then 1 minute in a leaning crucifix hold(but with no weights this time). We then kind of did simple and sinister but with some adjustments\additions. All done with the 20kg today... 8 x 10 single arm swings, 2 x 10 double arm swings with your partner pushing the bell down as it reaches the top of it's arc. 10 TGUs in sets of 2. With 1 chest press before starting the up bit and 1 overhead press at the end of the up bit. Next set was 2 of each press then 3 , 4 an 5. The evil bugger is thinking of adding Squats (before the down bit) as well 3 x 10 ab wheel rollouts 2 x 1 minute farmers walk with 44 kg(20 one side and 24 the other)

Saturday, dojo training
Gary, Paul and I today.
It was pretty warm in the gym this am.
Started with 11 rounds(30 secs work, 30 secs holding) on the bags.
We then did one person on defending against mae geri, taking the opponent over with a different takedown each time. We then did the same but with mawashi geri.
Next(and indeed rest of the session) we worked on 2nd dan kata. 5(maximum) of each move against an opponent you stopped when you thought your techniques were good.
