Monty didn't test this time as we ask people to wait 8 months between 3rd to 2nd and 2nd to 1st. I'm sure he'll be there at the next one.

Thursday, Enshin TrainingRos had to sit out of tonights training coz of her sciatica Quick warm up then 20 reps of all kihon strikes, blocks and kicks. Next we partnered up an did 1 minute rounds(alternating) of.... Hiki Kazushi, Mawashi geri (left then right) Hiki Mawashi, Hiza geri (left then right) Either of the above Felt really good about these, I was managing to get people moving a lot (hope they weren't helping me too much).Defence against either mae geri or straight punch Kata next, Brown green, yellow, blue & white doing them all slower than usual and concentrating on each technique. The pads and the cards came out and we got into threes and did the number and technique determined by which card came out. Jokers were 10 Punches, 10 Mae geri, 10 Mawashi geri & 10 Hiza geri Remarkably the joker came out 3 times Thought my techniques were coming in strong tonight Split into 2 groups and did 5 X Burpee, 5 X Sit up, 5 X press-ups & 6 sprints up and down the dojo. Light sparring next, several minute rounds then finished with a "Knockout" (not in that way) competition where as soon as your partner scores off you, you sit out.

Saturday, Enshin TrainingSix of us today 4 Black belts, Me and Mitch As Ros was working I am contractually abliged to say "What a brilliant session". There were highs and there were lows but over all I left there feeling good Started with the usual Bagwork of close range, long range, pulling a partner round, max 5 and exercise(started with tabletop situps and morphed into Burpess for some reason ) * First high of the session, whilst pulling Mitch (or Mark, I forget which) round I managed to get a good takedown (Move at 90 degrees to them and trip them with your trailing leg). Moved on to Mawashi geris into the bag, with a partner alternating kicks. 1 kick each then 2 then 3 then back to 1. We did this for about 1 3/4 mins (swapped sides after the first min) then Gary stopped us and changed it round a bit so we had 1 holding the bag whilst 2 kicked then swapped the bag holder then swapped the bag holder again. I was "Lucky" enough to be the last to hold the bag so did 3 3/4 minutes of kicks before I got a rest Next we partnered up and worked on kick defences and moving to the blind spot, Then we worked on some "Unusual" takedown (or takedowns from a less than optimal position). We then worked on some sweeps * Low of the session, I couldn't get the Zigzag sweep to work at all Oh well practice, practise, practise I guess Next we put on all our sparring kit, I bloody knew that the time i forgot my gumsheild I'd need it! One person was on and sparred with someone until one or other of them scored, at that point the scorer stayed in and the scoree was replaced with someone else. * High point number 2, got a good punch in on Mitch. In his defence he was concentrating on keeping his hands up so left his torso open Finished with 3 lots of 6 Burpees, 6 Situps, 6 press ups & 6 sprints *High Number 3, actually won the second round of these:)

That's a good write up Monty. It amazes me how you remember it all, as after I've had breakfast I think back and half of it's gone.
(Old age creeping in) (Remember what?)
Oh well ...
See you Thursday.

High point number 2, got a good punch in on Mitch. In his defence he was concentrating on keeping his hands up so left his torso open Plus my midriff is a large and well-padded target Mitch

Thursday, Enshin TrainingRos has done the main write up for last night. It was a good mix of sweat-fest to start then more gentle in the second half. I was one of the pad holders for the Kata bit so didn't get to go through my kata but it doesn't matter coz I now know (most of) the attacks for Brown belt kata

Saturday, Enshin TrainingStarted off with the normal twenty minutes bagwork, close range, long range, pulling round(got someone over with suri kome nage ) max 5 and Table top sit-ups (which, just when you want the session to end, Gary nicely replaces with Burpees) Next we partnered up and took it in turns to do each move of green belt kata 5 times (as both attacker and defender). Then we swapped partners and did green belt kata against an opponent all the way through. Finished with a tabata of sprints mixed with press-ups, V Sit-ups, squat jumps and tuck jump-burpees. Doesn't sound that much when it's written down but there was a puddle of sweat at my feet by the end and things were going a touch grey whilst we were having the apres-training de-breif!
