Monday, Enshin Training
Quick warm up to start then 50 reps of some of the basic strikes and kicks.
Then from fighting stance we did front leg mae geri, gedan mawashi geri, ushiro mawashi kake geri.
next we partnered up and got a set of pads between the two, 5 reps of each move of your chosen kata (green belt for me).
then we got into 4s and one person was the defender, two people alternated attacks and the other kept score.
Finished off with some SP drills.

Strange night tonight, I felt really 'flat'. No energy at all.
Have a great night on Thursday. Be inspired!

Gary Thanks, we've been offered the opportunity to go back stage and meet the Shaolin Monks but a) We couldn't make it over in time and b) it would be with over 100 of Simon's Wado group I agree, last night did seem a bit flat at the end.

It's probably just me ...
As I mentioned, behind the scenes there's a lot of moaning (usually from parents, not from members) and to be honest it bores the tits off me.
I'm thinking of simply saying "If you're not happy take him/her somewhere else" but I always end up trying to reason with people. The last month has been ... difficult.

I'm thinking of simply saying "If you're not happy take him/her somewhere else" Sounds like a plan to me. Honestly, f*ck 'em. P.S. We still love you!

I end up discussing things in the dojo that are best said to the person(s) concerned and it's not right to share the moans with people who just want to train. New leaf. Bare knuckle stuff. From now then it's "If you're not happy, feel free to f*ck off" Gary

I end up discussing things in the dojo that are best said to the person(s) concerned and it's not right to share the moans with people who just want to train. But to look at the other side of the coin, a problem shared is a problem halved (or is it a moan shared, is a moan doubled? ;D). Seriously, I imagine most people there last night would feel pleased and trusted to be included in dojo issues.

I would hope so. No matter how hard people try though most think 'what's best for me' in any discussions.
I smiled once at a student who stood for 10 minutes telling me 'it's your club' and 'you should just tell people how to pay and that's it'
Just for a laugh I said, 'you're absolutely right, from now on it's £10 a session'.
His face fell immediately and he started stuttering as he explained he couldn't afford that ...
I try to help everyone and sometimes people take the p***, but on the other hand rigid rules can end up with most people feeling unhappy.

Saturday, Enshin TrainingRos was working today Started with the 20 mins bagwork, todays "improvment" was that the Exercises started with "spidermans", changed to Jump squats, passed swiftly through Burpees and ended up with Full Bastards We then partnered up and worked on defence/takedown against... Mae geri Mawashi geri Ushiro geri Three punches Hiza geri Any of the above I got some good rolling throws going on Hisa but I fear he was helping a bit Finished off in threes with one person on for a Minute and a half defending against constant attacks from each of the opponents. Loads of sweat and nearly a bit of vomit occured(not from me this time). Great session Handed out Cookies (that Ros made at 4am this morning) to everyone (Rik couldn't partake as he is vegan) at the end

Great session, a few things are just starting to come together for me. Not brilliant, not even good, but just starting to feel like it's working for me sometimes. Really positive Thanks ever so much to Ros for the cookies, my kids have just munched one each and pronounced them "yummy" Mitch

Thanks Ros, they got "Awesome" "Bootiful" and "Why can't I have some tomato sauce with it?" from my three. ;D The training re-filled my enthusiasm bank after Thursday. When I see sweat and group spirit coming together like that I leave feeling very upbeat. Thanks to everyone for putting in the effort. Gary PS Got home to a mountain of scrambled eggs and bacon. Lisa said, "Do you want to ask Rik in for breakfast if he's heading back to London?" He'd have been horrified ...
